Images not loading

Seguir

I am getting SUPER frustrated. Since I am a basic user, I cannot submit an issue directly to Schoology, so here we are.

Last week, I had students taking quizzes in a Flipped Mastery course with no issues. Then on Friday, students attempted taking the same quiz, and the images stopped loading. They show a small polaroid looking photo with a line through the bottom right corner.

Now, NONE of my quiz images are loading. These quizzes are pulling questions from test banks that have been saved in schoology for years. My regular test images are showing just fine.

Kids have cleared cache and history, updated their Chrome browser, but are on Chromebooks, so they can not use any other browser. Any suggestions?

    Hi Megan,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Have you reviewed our System Requirements Guidelines here to ensure optimal performance while using Schoology?  If so, and the issue continues to persist, most of Schoology users using  Chromebooks have performed a hard reset on the device to resolve issues.

Are you able to have a few students perform a hard reset of their Chromebooks to see if that resolves the issue?  If not, let us know and we will be happy to take a closer look into this for you.

Nina, even if I have them do a hard reset (which I am willing to try), this issue is still occurring on my end also. I cannot see any quiz photos in active quizzes, previews, or even the folders the questions were originally uploaded in. While I am using Chrome, it is on a macbook.

    Hi Megan,

Do you have any plugins or applications running on your device while accessing Schoology? If so, would you be able to temporarily remove them and see if the error continues to persist on your end? Also, if possible, are you able to test this issue on a different network and/or device to determine if it is a network, device, or Schoology issue.

Also, do you know how the images were added, via a link, copy and pasted, uploaded into Schoology, etc?  Please let me know and I can continue to look into this issue for you. Thanks!

Nina, I have tried multiple devices, both at school and at home, and it is still occurring.

The images were saved on my macbook, uploaded to the resources folders as a quiz bank, and saved there. They are accessible in my resources, but not visible. Also, I noticed that the photos that DO work in my unit tests seem to be hosted on Schoology. The photos that are broken seem to be hosted on Cloud Front.

    Hi Megan,

Thank you for providing me with this additional information.  That images that are broken are usually an indication that the images were move or deleted from the source. In this case,  Cloud Front. Unfortunately, Schoology has no control over this.

As a workaround, are you able to recreate the test and add the images directly from Schoology?

Please let me know if you have any more questions. I will be happy to help!

So, Schoology chose to host images on a third party site (I never knowingly saved images outside of schoology), that site likely deleted the images, and now I am expected to have to go through, re-find files that are over 5 years old, and recreate every progress quiz in my course?

If I go through the same process of uploading photos and quiz banks as I did before, how do I know if I am saving images directly to Schoology, or another third party site that may delete them again?

My ongoing use of Schoology was encouraging my school to look into using it as an LMS, if this is the type of issue we will be dealing with, I will advise them against purchasing this program.

Furthermore, as a basic user, am I still allowed to make quizzes that pull from item banks? I know this was removed in 20-21.

    Hi Megan,

Thank you for your response. We understand your frustration and are sorry that you are facing an inconvenience. I recommend try recreating the quiz as a workaround for now and let me know if the issue persists.

Additionally, basic users will continue to have access to their previously created test and quiz materials but will not be able to create new tests/quizzes. Schoology Basic instructors will still be able to create a test or a quiz just using Course Assessments and will also be able to convert their existing test and quiz materials for use in Course Assessments. I recommend reviewing the following article for more information
