students can't access materials; gets "private access only" or "refuses to connect" or a black screen


I post pages, assignments etc, and students get the following error messages:

"sharepoint refuses to connect" or

"private access only", or sometimes just a black box where the file was embedded.  

I have shared every resource, google drive, my schools onedrive, etc and it does not make a difference.  

What steps do I follow so that all materials will be accessible by my students from their course page?
