Aligning Rubrics to Assessment Questions - Rubric won't show when grading!

Seguir

I am currently unable to view rubrics that I have attached to the short answer questions in an Assessment.  The rubric shows that it is attached in question view, but when grading it is not available to use.  I found this link showing how it's supposed to show up, but I have no grid to click on to access and interact with the rubric.  I have tried this with multiple Assessments and multiple different rubrics.  Rubrics work fine with Assignments but not Assessment questions.

Thanks, and please let me know if there is a fix for this issue!

    Hi all,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

We've reported this issue to our Engineering team, with a priority of Moderate Impact. This means that we understand that Short Answer questions with Rubrics is not working fully as intended when the assessment is created in Resources and added to a course, but prioritization of this issue is weighted against more urgent issues and other features we are developing. We encourage you to use the workaround of creating the Assessment within the course, or editing the RTE box to add the rubric text.

Please let us know if there is new information about this issue that might change the priority. For example, the issue may impact more customers than you originally reported or affect an area of Schoology that makes this more urgent. If we missed something from you or hear back from other Schoology customers about this issue, and the priority changes, we’ll let you know.

In reference to providing feedback on short answer/essay question on Assessments, it is currently on our product roadmap.  You can read more about this feature in development here

You’ll receive an update from us via this thread when the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

We are seeing a variation of this topic. Our teachers can insert and view the rubric and use it for grading but students see only the score not the rubric for feedback. The question type we are using is Short Answer/Essay.

I am having the same problem. When I look at the "Questions" tab of my exam, I see my essay with the rubric attached. I've got the box ticked that allows students to view the rubric too. But, when I select the "Grading" tab, the rubric is not present to grade. I should point out that I made this assessment and copied it to other courses. In the other course I copied the exam to, the rubric shows. This same thing has happened with more than one assessment.

This was a few months ago.  I'm still having this issue.   Has Schoology offered any sort of fix for what is such an integral, important feature?   Also... can anyone give comments/feedback to a short answer/essay item when making assessments?  I can't seem to be able to do that, so it's insanely difficult to let my students know why they missed something in a short answer.  That's why I switched to rubrics, but now they don't work either  :/

    Hi,

A few staff members at my site are also having the issue in which students cannot see the rubric on an assessment item.

    Thanks!

My students can see their score for each row, but I really need them to see the whole rubric for it to be a successful formative experience. Thanks!

I uploaded the rubric yesterday for an essay that I created using "assessments". I was unable to access the grid that appears in the how-to video. However, today it did show up, but only for about half of my students. I'm very confused as to why it shows up for some but not for others. Am I missing something? Is there a trick I'm not doing, or is this a bug that Schoology has yet to fix?  I would love to use the rubric feature to provide constructive feedback in a quick and convenient manner, but alas. Looks like it's the old fashion way. A quick fix would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Yes, this problem has become pervasive among my teaching staff. It tends to be worse when adding a rubric after the assessment has been made. To reduce this problem, be sure to add the rubric to the question immediately upon the questions' creation. PLEASE find a way to solve this problem. My English and Fine Arts teachers are DESPERATE for a solution to this frustrating problem! Their curriculum and assessment validity depend on reliable rubrics for assessment grading!

    Hi Arianna,

Thank you for posting in the Schoology Community.

I tried replicating this on my test account by creating a short answer essay question, and I aligned the rubric with the question. I was able to see the grid and view the rubric.

Please clarify that in this case, are you not able to see the rubric when you are editing assessment questions, or are your students not able to view the rubric on their end. Can you please provide us with the step-by-step workflow you are taking that leads to this error? This way we can take a closer look to determine if it is a resurfaced issue of the defect or a new issue.

I just had this issue today for the first time. I didn't check the "Allow students to see scores with correct answers" until after they completed the assessment.

    Hi Sean,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Currently, changes are not retroactive. If you make changes to the assessment after the students already began the test, the answers will not show.  It's recommended that you select the desired settings before the students began the assessment.  Please let us know if you have any questions. We will be happy to assist you.
