Google Forms

How can I assign a Google Form through Schoology?  I have been trying to add a Google Form as an assignment but have been having a lot of trouble.  When I try to embed it I can't get it to show up for my students and when I attach a link to the Google Form it does not create a copy for each student, it just gives them access to my original file which they can then edit my Google Form.

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Currently, embedding Google Forms is not fully supported on Schoology.  You can provide an upvote to this pre-existing post for the same feature.

If you want to assign an assignment that creates an individual copy for each student, we suggest using the Google Drive Assignments app.

To help our team better understand your request, can you please provide us with specific information on why you prefer to assign assignments via Google Forms if using the Google Drive app is not a solution for you?

I use the Google drive assignments app to upload Google docs as assignments but I can not upload Google forms through the Google drive assignments app because I am told it is not supported. Is this something that will be possible in the near future because I would love to be able to upload Google forms using the Google drive assignments app for the upcoming school year? I prefer using Google forms versus creating an assignment within Schoology for short answer and essay questions because I am able to input answers into the Google forms which makes it easier for me when I am grading those short answer questions because I have the answers right in front of me. To my knowledge I am not able put answers in for short answer questions when I create an assessment in schoology.

I would also like to know if this will be available.  My colleague and I spent all summer creating Google Forms for our classwork and assessments. We didn't know that we were going to be using Schoology until just recently. When our superintendent chose Schoology it was based on the fact that it was Google friendly.  I will not be very happy if we spent hours and hours during our summer creating these forms and we won't be able to use them.  We also don't have time to recreate all of those in another format.  Thank you!

    Matt,

When you give them the link, are you using the one provided when you click the share button, or are you copying the web address when you make it?  The links from the share button usually don't give edit privileges (unless you add that to it).

I also use forms a lot, and would like to have them integrated if everything else is just for consistency.  I use forms because you can download the answers into a spreadsheet, and see everyone's answer for each question in one place.  It helps to identify misconceptions.

We have hundreds of assignments created as a google form and now our district is wanting to adopt schoolgy. That is a lot of hours and blood, sweat, and tears put into building a curriculum that can't be used  with the platform chosen by the district. Please fix this for those moving from a Google classroom to this platform.

I also would like Google Forms integrated. If all the other Google (docs, sheets, slides) are available, this one should be as well. I use it to take surveys, data collect, then create spreadsheets assignments. Please consider making this a priority.

I agree with others that the integration with Google Forms is insufficient.

However...HERE IS MY WORKAROUND FOR THOSE THAT ALREADY HAVE FORMS CREATED:

    1. Go to your Google Form and choose "Send"

    2. Choose the Link option and copy the URL

    3. In Schoology, Choose "Add Materials" and "Add an External Tool"

    4. Title it and paste the URL here. This will imbed the form into Schoology so it opens for the student right in the Schoology platform.

    5. I don't have any students to test grading yet, but I do not believe the grades will automatically be entered to Schoology. To get the grades you will need to go to the Responses in your Google Drive like you would have without Schoology and you will need to manually enter the grades into the Schoology gradebook.

Monica: Thank you. That's a great idea.

I also found a work around, I used the "Embed" code to alter the page but that may be a bit more complicated than your idea.  But for those who who know how to use embed codes:

    1. Copy the "embed" code from google/office 365 online by going to Share and look for Embed or a <> Symbol.

    2. Create your page on Schoology.  To the far far right in Edit mode you will see two little dots. Click on that and it will switch it to the HTML code.  Then paste your code. Save the changes.

    3. Hopefully your form shows up! :)

Is there any update on this? After using Google Classroom, my district is now using Schoology. If I can't use Google Forms, this is a disaster.

    Hi Justin,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Embedding Google Forms into Schoology is considered a feature request and not a defect. Therefore, there are no updates on this behavior.  Our team reviews feature requests and organizes them based on the area of the product, your role in Schoology and whether the idea fits into a larger strategic initative.  With that being said, not all feature requests will be implemented.

You can learn more about the Feature Idea Process at Schoology here
