Implementing LTI Content Item Selection Request Workflow for Importing LTI Links

Seguir

I can set up LTI with a content provider using the LTI Setup Guide, but cannot find information on how to batch import LTI links from my content provider. I did find documentation on how to import a common cartridge, but Schoology is unable to import a cartridge than contains LTI links. It would be great if Schoology could update its common cartridge import to include "thin" versions of the cartridge that contains only LTI links. Short of that, it would be great if Schoology could implement the LTI Content Item Selection Request workflow that allows an LMS to import a set of LTI links directly from the content provider. The Content Item Selection Request is part of the LTI version 1.0 specification: https://www.imsglobal.org/specs/lticiv1p0/specification

Schoology does implement the LTI Content Item Selection Request workflow! This is not currently obvious from their published menus and guides, but here are the steps to integrate this LTI 1.1 feature:

    1. register to become an app developer with Schoology
    2. ask the support team to enable the Deep Linking LTI feature for the app you create
    3. configure an LTI-enabled app through the Schoology app development control panel
    4. add this LTI-enabled app to a course in your Schoology profile
    5. in the course materials area, select the add materials menu, and look for your LTI-enabled app as an option
    6. click on the name of your LTI-enabled app and this will execute the LTI Content Item Selection Request workflow
    7. You will be taken to your content provider site and be able to pick links to your content items according to the LTI specification
    8. Upon returning to the Schoology LMS, your selected content items will now show as LTI links in the list of course materials
