I can't send a message

I tried and send my friend a message so she can share the work with me that we have to do and it said"

 
There do not appear to be any valid recipients. Please check the names and try again. For additional assistance, please submit a ticket at support.schoology.com.Disallowed to send a message without at least one valid recipient"

    Student-to-student messaging is turned off by default. 

    For more information about the permission settings at your district, please reach out to your instructor.
