Mark assignments as completed

Seguir

Currently assignments are not marked as completed until they are graded. This might make sense for teachers, but it is seriously inconvenient for students. I have a long list of "overdue" assignments that I have completed but that my teachers have not graded. It would be much more convenient if assignments would be marked as completed for students once work is turned in or even if I can simply manually mark it as completed. This way, the list of assignments only shows the assignments that I still need to complete, which makes much more sense for students.

    Hi all,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

I am happy to report this feature is currently on our product roadmap! Once complete, teachers will be able to mark materials as "Submitted" in the course gradebook and assign a score for that material if desired.

We suggest tracking the progress of this feature by following our product roadmap here.

As a teacher, I would love for students to have a list (not just a calendar) that would "check-off" completed assignments.  Sometimes they have to go back into an assignment to double check if they have submitted it.

    Hello Nina,

Is it possible to include the capability for Students to mark an assignment as complete? As in the original request, for the student to "simply manually mark it as complete", so it's removed from their list of assignments still needed to be completed. This would be similar to Google Classroom's "Mark as Complete", and would be useful in those cases when the assignment is not a Schoology submission.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Currently, the ability for students to mark assignments as complete is not a supported feature in Schoology. Teachers will only be able to mark the materials as "Submitted" in the course gradebook when the feature is released.

If you haven't done so already, please consider providing an upvote to this post requesting students to mark their assignment as complete. This will help our team consolidate support for this feature and to streamline the Community!

I'm working with curriculum that is self contained on the web, so no actual turnin to Schoology.  In Google Classroom students could mark an assignment as completed when they finished.  It would be great if they had that same function here. (already upvoted previous post but would be happy to do so again 8-)

Agreed. Teachers need to have an ability to quickly mark that an assignment has been submitted, but not graded yet, without students being alerted that something is missing.

Students need to be able to mark an assignment complete (not just the teacher), but more importantly once the assignment is submitted it should be removed from "upcoming assignments" or change to gray or some visual indicator.  My kids have to go into each assignment to confirm whether its been submitted or not, this is extremely inefficient use of time and technology.  This should be at the top of the 'roadmap' of features.

I, too, find the lack of ability to have a check mark of completion a very inefficient use of everyone's time; the student, the parents and the teachers. Parents and students are having to reopen assignments numerous times a week to check if completed. We can print the Schoology Parents View for a list of completed assignments and then cross reference manually to verify against the student's calendar view or the coursework listing and then cross off a print out of each of these. However, the list of assignments changes for us sometimes several times per day, as the teachers are changing/updating work based on how students are adapting to the lessons. So a check mark to show completion is even more important as this is a evergreen list. Please Schoology, get this check mark feature added to show on the calendar view and the coursework listing on the home page.  A simple green check mark is all that is needed.

Schoology's lack to find a solution to this problem is disgraceful. I have been an educator for 19 years. I have used numerous LMSs over the years. I have never known an LMS to completely miss the mark on this one. Students and parents need to have an IMMEDIATE indicator that an assignment is done. Teachers do not have the time to manually mark every assignment as done before they grade it. Students like to move on after doing an assignment and with multiple assignments and classes, they do not remember what they have done and what they have not done unless it disappears from their updates or has a checkmark in the gradebook. I am not a computer programmer, but simple programming allows you to link within your page. You already have the button "click when complete" at the end of the assignment. Why can't that be linked to a dot or checkmark that appears or disappears next to the name of the assignment? There are very few features that are essential in an LMS for educators and this is one of them. I think parents would gladly pay for schools to use Canvas that has this feature and also resolves issues users have very quickly. This issue was posted on this page on April 6th. The fact that this hasn't been resolved is very negligent. It appears like bait and switch.

I am a student at GJSD and we just made the switch from google classroom to schoology...I HATE IT!!! not all my assignments are always posted in my upcoming panel and then the overdue stuff i already completed...also is there a way that once the assignment is completed on my end that it will disappear from my viewing screen so i know that what i have on my screen is uncompleted assignments...THIS IS SOOOO FRUSTRATING!!

I think it should be a priority for the Schoology software engineers to add an "assignment complete" feature to the Schoology platform.  It could be as simple as adding a flag box next to each assignment...just like you can flag emails.  Assignments are so numerous, it's too easy for something to get lost in the shuffle.  Clicking on each assignment individually to check for completion is a multistep process that is tedious and time-consuming.

Please add a flagging option to help students stay organized.  Please!!!!
