    Hi all,

Apologies for any confusion. As you can imagine, we are all dealing with a set of new and unexpected circumstances.

Holly is correct -- recordings currently can take up to 24 hours to appear.

To clarify the original question, Sharon is correct: the stop button will save the recording.

You can also see BigBlueButton's FAQ about Record and Playback here for more details about the recording function.

If you are experiencing any issues, please note that Schoology works with other products that we can also recommend to solve your immediate needs: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Hangout Meets. Each has its own pros and cons, but at least one of these should be able to meet your needs!

    Microsoft Teams

We recently released our new integration with Microsoft Teams. This integration works for all Microsoft customers ensuring that you can continue learning remotely with all your students. Microsoft is offering Teams for free for 6 months

    Install Microsoft Teams within Schoology

    Zoom

The Zoom LTI app allows teachers to schedule and manage meetings, record classrooms, and more. Zoom is temporarily lifting the 40-minute time limit on free Basic accounts for schools affected by the Coronavirus. Zoom Free Basic allows teachers to create conferences outside of Schoology and copy that link to their Schoology courses.

    Install Zoom for Schoology

    Google Hangouts Meet

You can always add Google Hangouts Meet links to your pages, assignments, updates, and calendar in Schoology.

If you want to use Google Hangouts Meet as your conferencing tool, adding links is a great way to do that. The Google Meet will start when you join and will run until all users leave. You do not have to update the link to start a new session. When you’re ready for your next class to start, the same link will create a new Google Meet.

Google is rolling out free access to their advanced Hangouts Meet video-conferencing capabilities to all G Suite and G Suite for Education customers globally including:

    • Larger meetings, for up to 250 participants per call
    • Live streaming for up to 100,000 viewers within a domain
    • The ability to record meetings and save them to Google Drive

    Hi Christina,

If you're using Schoology Conferences (aka BigBlueButton), please refer to their tutorials for assistance. That will be the best source to help you.

Please let us know if you are referring to a different video conferencing app.

Hello, have the same question.  The Big Blue Button tutorial does not address how to save a recording.

The tutorials referenced by Ms. Shao do not address how to make sure your sessions are recorded or what to expect; believe me... I looked.  The answer to Christina's question is that if you hit start at the beginning and pause at the end, it has to have time to process.  My recording took about 30 minutes to show up, so just check back after 30 minutes to see if it is available.  I hope this is helpful.

Thank you Ms. Shao for helping.  We appreciate all the help we can get.

I am having the same problem.  The very first recording I did today saved, the other 3 did not. Does it only allow one recording per day?  Do we have to keep the conference open until the recording can be processed? Please help.  It is causing A LOT of extra work and time to rerecord everything so my students can get help

The tutorials are no help. I did further digging and found out that because of increased volume, recordings could take 24 hours or so to appear. Give it a day or 2 and if it still doesn't come up, you'll need to contact the app vendor (BigBlueButton).

Please note that these recordings only last 7 days! If you are using them for some sort of tutorial, it is best to record via some other web tool. I'm working to see if there is some way to download them to the desktop.

I confirmed that one of my recordings showed up (took a bit less than 24 hours). I'm SJSCD if anyone in my county needs further assistance.

If you use your own BigBlueButton server with premium license then you could save/ download and keep them the time you want,, if you use the default schoology setup the free license then that will last for 7 days and you can't download them.
