Conferences won't work

Seguir

I am trying to trouble shoot using Conferences on an iPad before we ask students to use it. Another colleague added it to a shared Course from her computer so that we could test it. I know that you cannot use it in the app, so I am trying using a browser but on my iPad. When I try in Chrome it tells me I need to use Safari, but my colleague can see that I am in. When I try in Safari I am getting a screen that says "No login information was received. Try loading this application again from within Schoology". I'm not sure what it needs me to do. Help!

    Hi all,

This issue has been escalated to our Engineering team with a priority of Moderate Impact. This means that we understand that Conferences on a iOS device is not working fully as intended, but prioritization of this issue is weighted against more urgent issues and other features we are developing.

This is because Conferences is functioning as expected on non-iOS devices. We encourage you to use the workaround of using a computer to access Conferences in Schoology.

If we missed something from you or hear back from other Schoology customers about this issue, and the priority changes, we’ll let you know.

Otherwise, you’ll receive an update from us via this thread when the issue is resolved. Thank you for your patience.

Once again, please note that Schoology also works with other products that we can also recommend to solve your immediate needs: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Hangout Meets. Each has its own pros and cons, but at least one of these should be able to meet your needs!

    Microsoft Teams

We recently released our new integration with Microsoft Teams. This integration works for all Microsoft customers ensuring that you can continue learning remotely with all your students. Microsoft is offering Teams for free for 6 months.

    Install Microsoft Teams within Schoology

    Zoom

The Zoom LTI app allows teachers to schedule and manage meetings, record classrooms, and more. Zoom is temporarily lifting the 40-minute time limit on free Basic accounts for schools affected by the Coronavirus. Zoom Free Basic allows teachers to create conferences outside of Schoology and copy that link to their Schoology courses.
    Install Zoom for Schoology

    Google Hangouts Meet

You can always add Google Hangouts Meet links to your pages, assignments, updates, and calendar in Schoology.

If you want to use Google Hangouts Meet as your conferencing tool, adding links is a great way to do that. The Google Meet will start when you join and will run until all users leave. You do not have to update the link to start a new session. When you’re ready for your next class to start, the same link will create a new Google Meet.

Google is rolling out free access to their advanced Hangouts Meet video-conferencing capabilities to all G Suite and G Suite for Education customers globally including:

    • Larger meetings, for up to 250 participants per call
    • Live streaming for up to 100,000 viewers within a domain
    • The ability to record meetings and save them to Google Drive

    Hi Callie,

Sorry to hear you're experiencing this behavior!

This sounds like something our team would need to investigate further.

I'm going to go ahead and submit a ticket on your behalf with our Support team.

You'll receive this ticket as an email at the address associated with your account.

    Hi Yimei,

We're experiencing similar issues. Can you also create a support ticket for us?

I've got the same issue, is there any way I could get informed on a solution when you folks find one. It would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks

I solved the issue by changing browsers. I didn’t realize I was using Microsoft edge when I tried it the first time. Today I tried Google Chrome and it worked perfectly.

    Hi all,

Is this occurring on any particular browser?

Our Engineering team is aware that there is an issue with loading Conferences on Safari, particularly if using a custom domain.

Please let us know which browsers are effected.

I’m on an iPad and have different issues depending on the browser. I will attach screenshots. 1st is Safari, other 2 are CHrome.

My students with iPads found that most could load it in Safari if they enable Private Browsing, but we have that disabled for our lower school students for good reason. We could not get it to work in Chrome even in Incognito Mode. Ideally, they would just be able to use it within the Schoology app itself!

Is there any resolution/recommendation on this? Is it a browser and/or iPad issue?

    Hi all,

We apologize for any inconvenience this is causing, and understand the frustration.

Please make sure your firewall is configured to accommodate BigBlueButton. See BigBlueButton's help article about this here.

    If you are using Chrome:

    1. Please copy and paste this into your browser: chrome://flags/#same-site-by-default-cookies
    2. Set the flag from Default to Disabled

You may want to consult BigBlueButton Support as well. This may be due to a capacity issue. As you can imagine, they are experiencing a large influx of demand.

If you continue to experience issues, please note that Schoology works with other products that we can also recommend to solve your immediate needs: Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Hangout Meets. Each has its own pros and cons, but at least one of these should be able to meet your needs!

We are experiencing the same issue.  We have tried both Safari and Chrome.  We still get the same message about login info not being received. We are not using an ipad.  We are using a Dell Inspiron Chrome book.

I had a numbest of students who could not join today because of the no login thing. Also I would like to know where the share screen button is on Safari during conferences. It doesn't seem to appear.

We are using iPads as well, and we discovered that while using Safari, you have to turn off the Prevent Cross Tracking to also allow students to see it in Schoology via the Safari app.

Settings > Safari > Scroll to find the privacy section > Uncheck the "Prevent Cross Tracking"

Granted we still have some issues with Firewall allowing web cameras, but we are slowing getting this fixed.  They require a lot of ports opened according to our tech department.

We are having the same problem using Firefox.  I was told that now because Zoom was added that Firefox won't work with Zoom and I have to use Chrome.  Problem is is that she is having a problem in just one class.
