Student Q&A

Multiple Accounts & Multiple Schools

My daughter has an account that was set up for her by her charter school (paid account), and now she also needs one for an independent instructor for a course not taught through the charter (free account).  I was able to add the class to her existing account using the access code.  It shows up as existing but doesn't show any coursework as having been added.  A pink bar comes across the top that says it's unable to upload folders.  Her instructor suggested that she set up a 2nd email and add the account separately.  This would be super confusing and cumbersome as she is already new to Schoology and a SpEd student.  Is there another way for her to fix this problem?

2nd do I, as a mom/homeschool teacher, access everyone's info?  My son has just been signed up for a private instructor's class and doesn't have one through the charter.  BUT, that's potentially 3 separate accounts to monitor so far (and I still have more kids).  How do I get access codes to each class so that I can set up a parent account that has everybody's classes all in one place?  That is possible, right?

    Hi Abby,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

It sounds like the Schoology settings at your daughter's district don't allow users to join courses from outside of their organization.

To circumvent this, we do recommend that you create a separate account to join the course. After you've done so, you can link the two accounts. This will enable your daughter to log in using her district's login credentials, but be able to toggle into her other account easily (without logging out and back in). For more information and instructions for linking accounts, please see this article.

Because each Schoology account can only be associated with one organization at a given time, you will have to create a parent account for each organization. Again, after you've done so, you can link your accounts together. For information and instructions specifically for linking parent accounts across organizations, please see this article.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions.
