How can a teacher submit assignments on behalf of a student?

Seguir

This teacher has an assignment in Schoology that has submissions open. Students work on a paper assignment. She wants to take photos of their work and submit it for the student as most do not have access to a device in the classroom. All the solutions we've thought of aren't very quick. We've talked about:

  • taking all of the photos, sending each one to the appropriate student for them to submit when they have access
  • having the students take turns logging into Schoology from her phone and submitting one at a time
  • dropping them all in a media album (don't like the idea of students being able to access each others' work)

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!

    Hi Anna,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

The teacher can use the Observational Grading for Assessments feature and submit on behalf of students. This way, students can complete a paper assessment without the use of a device and the teacher can submit on their behalf.

Additionally, Scanning Printed Assessments is In Development on our Product Roadmap which may be useful in this scenario. This will help teachers save time by taking advantage of Schoology’s auto-grade functionality without manually entering answers. We recommend that you click Follow on this Roadmap article to receive future updates on this feature.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any additional questions.

We wanted to let you know that Scanning Printed Assessments is now released for AMP! As mentioned previously, this feature helps teachers save time by taking advantage of Schoology’s auto-grade functionality without manually entering answers. You can find more information here: Scanning Paper Assessments.

    Claire,

But that only works for assessments right?  What about other assignments?

Another example of this need is when students do their work in a google drive assignment and then it's the end of the marking period and they haven't actually pressed the submit button.  I found a work around by entering a grade in the gradebook, but it is time consuming and the assignment will still show as in progress on the assignment page.

Or, they have started an assessment, but not finished before the end of the grading period.  The teacher cannot see the in progress assessment to grade what they have completed.  Should the student get a zero if they have done some of the assignment correctly?

Hi Mrs. Kuryla and Dr. Iskandar Rizal Hamzah,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

The features mentioned above allow instructors to submit on behalf of students on assessments only, which could serve as a workaround for submitting assignments.

If you're looking for a similar feature on assignments, please provide an upvote to this pre-existing post for submitting on behalf of students on assignments: Submit work FOR students.

Additionally, if you're looking to submit on behalf of students on Google assignments, you might wish to upvote this pre-existing post: Force Submit in Google Assignments.

Thank you for your understanding and for your help in making Schoology even better!
