Please mark the incorrect parts in Assessments without displaying the correct answers.

Seguir

There are currently only 3 view submissions options in Schoology:

I give multiple assessments per chapter that interactively teach the material and guide students to success. Because of this, many of my assessment questions have 10+ fill-in-the-blanks (usually dropdown). I allow students 5 attempts to earn at least a 90. This works well with Schoology's newly added "submission rules" because students can't move on to the next assignment until they show mastery on the previous. Below is one example of just one of my assessment questions for my AP Statistics Course.

There are 14 fill-in-the-blanks, and Schoology currently offers no way for the students to see which blanks are incorrect without displaying the correct answers.

I can't allow students to "View Submissions with Correct Answers" - Option #3  because then they don't learn from their mistakes and try again. Option 2 - "View Submissions only" does not mark which fill-in-the blanks they missed, it only gives them the total number of points they earned on the question.

I believe a 4th option needs to be added."View submissions with incorrect answers"

I want my students to know which of those 14 parts they missed instead of just giving them 11/14 points. I have students waste hours of time trying to figure out which of the fill-in-the-blanks is incorrect, and a lot of the time they change one of the correct answers. My school is accelerated, and many students work in the evenings and late at night. This issue is why many teachers at my school don't want to switch to assessments. Can we please get this 4th option added?

I've added another simpler visual to show this issue more clearly.

Here's what the 4th option would look like:

This flaw really must be fixed if students are supposed to learn from their mistakes.

Many teachers will not use assessments because of this issue and the lack of an assessment question bank. This issue is urgent, and completely disables the potential of the assessments.  The code for the two current view options can be merged to create this new student view I've requested.  This feature could be very quickly added.

I am trying to do what is best for my students, and I feel as if I let them down when they have to redo the assignment multiple times because they can't see what they've done wrong.

Think outside the box and truly open the power of your assessments.

    Hi Professor San Miguel,

We appreciate you outlining this gap in functionality and we understand how this would improve the Assessment experience for instructors and students. However, the behavior you are expecting is different from how we originally built the feature. In this case, what you are reporting as a bug is actually a feature request.

As you mentioned, this behavior is different in Test/Quiz. We are continuing to build out the Assessments feature and there is not full parity at this time. Your feedback is very valuable as we plan updates to this feature and we've passed this on to our Product team for their consideration.

    Thank you for your understanding.

This feature would help me out a lot as a student because I have to waste so much time trying to figure out which questions I got wrong. With this feature, I am able to see which question I got wrong or correct and fix all the wrong answers. That way, I don't waste valuable time to do homework and I am able to learn why I got a certain question incorrect.

It would save everyone a lot of time because students don't have to keep redoing questions that they got right.

This feature will save teachers and students a lot of time so that we can continue to do our work instead of spending hours trying to figure out which problem needs to be fixed. It will allow us to figure out which problems need to be corrected on the spot. It will be very useful and time saving.

This feature would be such a tremendous help to the students letting us know what we made mistakes on instead of just wasting our attempts trying to guess what we got wrong.

I agree with this, I am tired of having to make a new trial without knowing exactly what I got wrong. It makes me commit more mistakes and waste more of my trials.

I really believe that you should fix this issue because Schoology is meant to aid students in learning in an efficient way. I don't see why you shouldn't add a feature to help, so many students are inconvenienced by this. Having to ask the teacher to manually point out what you got wrong is so time-consuming for both the students and the teacher, and it would help a lot if you added this function.

Allow students to know what's right and what's wrong is a fundamental goal in education: being able to fix your mistakes.
I feel like this is a simple feature to add, so at least attempt to solve this problem.

Yes! Please, this would help many of us! Its a huge convince when we answer the quiz and get some question wrong and not being able to know which, even though we know that most were right. We rather not contacts are teachers or a bug that can be fixed.

This is important! There have been so many times where I've redone questions and gotten even more wrong because I second-guessed my previous answer choices.

I would greatly appreciate if this feature were to be added. I find that I lose all motivation to go over the quiz because of the risk of getting a lower grade and I have less confidence in my answers. If I were to see which questions I got wrong, my studying would be more efficient, I would have more time to spare to do other classes and I would not be so reliant on friends: especially during test days. If I saw what answers I got wrong, I might be able to learn more and become more independent. Please and thank you.

Still waiting for this to be addressed. PowerSchool, please start fixing the countless issues teachers have posted on this forum over the years that still haven't been fixed:

    Sorting Mail

    Assessment Question Bank

    Ability to delete assignment submissions

    Anonymous discussion post

Marking parts of assessments wrong without displaying the correct answers (this post)

Please make this a priority.  It is hard to get used to a feature in the test/quiz tool and find it is missing, or not as well designed in the assessments tool.  I want to like and start using the assessment tool, but the more things like this that I discover, the more I hesitate to make the leap to using assessments regularly in my classes.

As more and more instruction and learning is done online through this platform I am surprised that this feature has not been added already. Please add this feature as soon as possible to help with my instruction!
