"Hide" Courses Imported From Student Information System

Seguir

We need the ability to "hide" courses that have been imported from our student information system (SIS) that are not going to be used. This is especially important for our elementary school teachers because many are not using all of their classes in Schoology. However, this also has a negative impact on many teachers through K-12. For students and parents it looks extremely confusing and disorganized to see a bunch of classes in their accounts that are not being used. Other LMSs already give teachers the ability to make it so that courses are not visible that aren't being used.

    Hi all -

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community about this feature!

There is a feature in limited availability that allows System Administrators to set up provisioning rules in Schoology, enabling you to filter courses and sections that you want to exclude from a sync. We recommend reaching out to your Support Contact to determine if this feature would accomplish your goals. You can find more information about the feature here: SIS Provisioning Rules

    I hope this helps!

Please make this happen.   Our staff fumbles around in the scheduling utility and it makes everything a mess.   This is a must-have feature.

This would be very useful for schools who are implementing Schoology throughout their district, like we are doing.  In our district, the primary grade teachers have their Homeroom, Language Arts and Math courses listed.  They really only need their "homeroom" to be visible.  They keep the same students with them all day and will probably never populate these other courses with information.

Yes this would be helpful, as in my District most elementary teachers, are not using the SIS courses, and are making their own. Also the ALC which is on a different grading period doesn't use the SIS courses either.

We are just getting started and I can already tell that this will be an issue.

This would be extremely helpful as it would clean things up for teachers, students, and parents.

Hello everyone...yes hiding would be beneficial as this would allow the SIS sync to continue to run, but let teachers decide which courses to use! Great idea.

There is a partial solution - at least for us as we use Skyward SIS. There is a "Rules" tab available by request that allows the Schoology admin at your school to "block" certain courses from coming over. For example, we block Resource Centers, Study labs, etc - so they don't clutter the schedule. If you are interested in this, contact your Schoology Client Success Manager and they can enable it for you.

Providing this solution would get more elementary teachers bought into using Schoology, especially for parent communication. Schoology, please give us a solution! Thank you Emily for making the feature request.
