Create a Differentiated Learning Path for students with Completion rules

Seguir

Currently, completion rules work well, but could be enhanced to truly differentiate a self-paced lesson. I propose that completion rules be revamped to include a pathway based on student performance to better differentiate lessons.

Consider this feature from Canvas: https://community.canvaslms.com/docs/DOC-8492

If a student gets a certain score, send them to one path, if a different score, send them to a different path. If a student continually is missing a concept, introduce them to a different lesson.

Personalized learning is critical in the Corporate world, so having the ability to create differentiated learning plans would be fantastic.

As this is becoming less of a 'goal' for teachers and more of a benchmark or even requirement, this is definitely something that should be added going forward. If it is not on the 'Roadmap' it should be added immediately.

This is a request for branching student completion, based on learner needs or performance.

It would also be really great if the individualize pathways could include student options. For example, the teacher prepares 4 different ways students could demonstrate their learning and mastery and then students each select the option that fits their needs/preferences and then they are assigned to that option to see all materials and assessments for their option without ever seeing the other option materials.

Then if students struggle at some point along the way their pathway could be adjusted based on pre-selected criteria. Or, if a student would like additional support or practice in a specific area, there would be a message at select points offering alternate teaching/extra practice or extension options, and students could click to opt-in. This would really make differentiation powerful but also give students power/ownership over their own learning (which is really one of our ultimate goals, right?).
