Gradebook Request - Missing Assignments

Seguir

Because of my school's grading policy, I would like teachers to have the ability to set our own grade/score for incomplete or missing assignments instead of the grade defaulting to a zero.

Thanks.

I believe that if you choose 'missing' it acts like a zero and is calculated as such in the gradebook.  If you choose 'incomplete' then it does not count as a zero but of a reminder that this must still be done.  Hope that helps :)

Thanks Mrs. Maion.  I understand that "missing" automatically gives the students a zero in the gradebook.  Instead of a zero, I wish we could set our own points for those students who have not submitted the assignment.  I have seen this option in other LMS and would appreciate the flexibility.  Even if incomplete assignments were given half-credit instead of a reminder to turn in would be helpful.

I agree with you Chris.  Incomplete doesn't allow me to put in a grade.  It erases that grade for me.  If someone completes 5/10 I would like to know it wasn't necessarily that they didn't know 50% of the material but that they only completed 5 of the 10 items.

You should be able to change the value for a missing assignment when you set up your gradebook. You can make it count for 0% or 50% or whatever you want I believe.  I remember playing with it at the beginning of the year. You can also make your own category. So even if you can't change the value of "missing" you can make your own new category that counts it the way you want to.

Emily, that would be great if I could change the value of "Missing".  I do not know how to do that though.  Do you remember, specifically, how to change the value of "missing" or create a new category?  Is this an admin ability or do teachers have the same ability?

I don't think it would be possible at this point (I'm assuming you're half way through the year) but maybe next semester if your gradebooks reset. Basically when you create a gradebook and set up your classes you are able to change this. I can't seem to find any way to do it now. But I remember it being in the options when I was setting them up. I will update if I find the option.

I've been searching through the forum/help topics, and can't seem to find anything about it. Maybe I I got it confused with some other process. But I was under the impression that you could add your own exceptions.... I might be wrong. Either way this feature is desperately needed.

I would like the option to have something marked "missing" show up on the "overdue" list and also have the option to set what default a missing gets, whether it gets a 0 or is not recorded.
