Grade pop ups

Seguir

The box that pop ups every time I enter a grade (black with A=95, B=85, C, etc.) is very frustrating and inhibits entering grades effectively and efficiently. Is there a way to turn that off?  Or can it be removed from the gradebook?

    Hi everyone,

Thank you so much for your continuous feedback. Based on your feedback, we are happy to announce our Engineering team has released a new feature that will allow users to "turn off" the grade scale popup in a course. You can now opt out of seeing this popup by going to the Gradebook for your course, clicking the "View" dropdown menu, and unchecking "View Grading Scale." Here is also a clip of the new feature in action:

We hope this helps alleviate the pain-points you experienced with our Gradebook. We appreciate the time and energy you've given to our Community and are optimistic this new feature will help improve your workflow. Thank you for using Schoology!

I agree- I have a touch screen computer and several times I have inadvertently changed a grade or I cannot see the boxes to enter the grades because of the pop-up.  Please give us the ability to turn it off!

The Black Grade Box is difficult to maneuver around and adds an extra step when entering grades.  Please remove feature to make entering grades more use friendly!

I don't know if we are talking about the same feature, but I used to be able to enter my process grades from a rubric with words rather than a letter or number grade.  I would type in an "m" and it would give me the option of Missing or Meets the standard.  Choices no longer pop up and if I enter a letter it gives the student a zero.  Feeling really frustrated with the end of a grading period coming up in two days!!!

It is particularly crazy to have when I have things to set to grade with points and the choices that pop up are letters! Please get rid of this, or make it something we can turn off.

So annoying - I've made several inadvertent changes to grades because of the pop-up box. Who even needs that feature? Please remove it or create an icon instead.

Yes, please remove. I have never found a purpose for that box. It only gets in the way...

Yes, please remove. Very rarely is a students grade one of these 4 option, and it causes many more errors when entering grades. Disable!

Please remove that box.  I've never used it as grades are rarely exactly 100, 90, 80, 70, etc.  The box gets in the way and causes more mistakes because I can't see whose grades I am logging.

In complete agreement with my colleagues. I would like to see it removed. The worst part is you have to click out of that area for the box to be removed which is extremely inefficient.

I agree and many people are complaining about this since last school year.  When will we see it deleted? Are they listening to their customers?

    Hi Jennifer,

We are definitely listening to your concerns and very much appreciate your input. We have been actively looking at ways to improve our gradebook but we have not officially added this to our current roadmap.

If the teachers don't need individual assignments to have a custom grading scale, you can save your school's grading scale for the Final Grade Settings. Using the default Numeric scale on your assignments will prevent the pop up.

I know this is not an ideal solution and I apologize for any inconvenience.

Can Schoology PLEASE remove the gray pop-up box showing the grading scale when entering grades! It's unnecessary and aggravating.

@Ching Ng I understand that this is not an issue for those who use the default Numeric scale provided. However, many schools (including my own) have a custom grading scale that we are required to use in our gradebook.

That being said, I think it would just be helpful if the pop-up automatically went away after we type in a grade. It doesn't prevent us from entering our own grade in the grading column, but it DOES block other grade entry spots. Meaning we have to click away from the gradebook after entering a grade manually to remove the pop up, so that we can enter the next grade. That is really what makes it an issue. Not that it is there, but that it doesn't go away after we manually type in a grade. Perhaps that would be an easier change for the developers, if removing it completely isn't an option.

    Ching,

The same can be said for EVER pop up window in Schoology. At the very least, give us the option of moving the pop up out of the way. They almost always cover information we need to put into the pop up window.

I've been having the same issues and I noticed that complaints about this pop up window go back 2 yrs.

How long does it take before the little things are going to be fixed? May I suggest stop trying to add more bells and whistles and fix the gradebook. The core of the program. It's not just the pop-ups. There are issues with filling in empty cells, how the student's names are displayed, etc.

You might consider it and issue too small to worry about but when you have to deal with it x180 students it's a deal breaker.

I agree - that solution will work for some, but all of our elementary schools are on a 7 point scale.  They have to use the custom scale, so the box is driving them crazy.

If it would just go away after the grade is entered, it would be fine. Otherwise it is a huge PITA!!!!!

The gray box is annoying. The best way to deal with it I've found so far is use the TAB button on your keyboard to navigate to the next grade box instead of clicking with your mouse.  The gray box moves out of the way - even though it is still an annoying distraction that covers up other information.

    Hi Chang,

Disabling this option should be officially  added to schoology's current roadmap.  You have several teachers posting concern multiply each by 20 or 30 who haven't posted.  Our District is planning on adopting this product as their universal grading product.  I am at a pilot high school evaluating this product, and standard grading scale is not feasible school wide when teaching multiple subjects.

Many commands in schoology are cumbersome and take too much time to enter 200 students assignment everyday.  Also the system is not very user friendly, and restrictive,  Disable/Enable option should be added to online Test/Quizzes category instead of having to create an assignment and calling it a test if you have a paper test.  This function probable has to do with setting up custom grading.

Also one more thing why, can't teachers manually input students in the gradebook and provide a access code for the students to login, if the students doesn't use the access code, the teacher can't input grades for that particular student?

I think the best way to turn it off is to just remove the box from the program.  It is unnecessary.
