Button to clear overdue assignments list

Seguir

Every time I look at my home screen on Schoology, my assignments list is crowded with overdue assignments, even though my teachers only put them on Schoology for a reminder of the due date, not for a submission. My idea and complaint is that there is no current option to clear this overdue assignments list without submitting something that really isn't supposed to be submitted. So, inserting a button into the assignment called, "clear this assignment from overdue", will do just as implied, take it off the home screen so more important upcoming assignments can fit the screen instead. If this idea, even one that is modified from mine, is included into Schoology, all students under my circumstance will experience a more efficient and simplified version of Schoology.

I agree! There is too much clutter there! We know that a submission was not needed, but these pop ups won't go away! It's way too cluttered and I can't see the upcoming assignments tab because I can't clear the cluttered overdue tab. Also, it makes me paranoid that I didn't do something, but in reality a submission wasn't necessary! Schoology- you NEED to fix this! PLEASE!

Agreed! I have the same exact problem, and there is so much clutter of "assignments" that were only reminders. It is annoying to have to find my upcoming assignments tab. Especially since it is the new semester and some teachers still haven't taken those "assignments" down. They're just flooding my home page.

Or, allow teachers (and administrators for Enterprise schools) to set the default for their course(s) so that Submissions are disabled. If a teacher actually wants students to submit through Schoology, they can then enable Submissions for a given assignment.

I receive overdue submissions from not only last semester, but the year prior.

My notifications are cluttered with OLD OLD OLD submissions and this has to be deleted or cleared somehow. Please help with a DELETE or MUTE button.

I agree and have also asked Schoology how to either eliminate the "Overdue" section or move it to the bottom of the page.  They told me to post here so that their Development Team may take up this idea and create a much needed improvement to their system.

I would like to add my agreement on the need for this feature. Another potential way of addressing the issue would be to add a filter which allowed the user to specify the maximum age of overdue assignments to be displayed.

Yes!  We have teachers requesting a button to clear Reminders that are not relevant to them anymore.  (They would still like them to appear; they just want that option to remove them manually.)

To whom it may concern at Schoology help,

I am both a teacher using your product and a parent of students using your product.  I would really like to be able to delete overdue things from my page that have been assigned in some training course I am enrolled in.  I would also like for my son to be able to delete an overdue assignment from October of the previous year, semester, course that clutters his screen.  I can only imagine that there are some students that have way too much of this clutter.

I get that maybe students shouldn't just be able to delete but there has to come a point besides the end of the year where it can be deleted.  You guys built this you can figure something out.  Except this thread is a couple of years old but I believe in you.

    Thanks

Teachers or administrators can lock an overdue assignment or unpublish it to remove the overdue assignment from students' home screens.

Correct me if I am wrong but if you unpublish it then all the grades disappear for other students.

Yes, I believe you are correct, Ken. If students cannot see the assignment because it is unpublished, they cannot see their grade for the assignment. Locking the assignment will allow students to see their grade, but they will no longer be able submit to the assignment and will not get the overdue notice.

I have not heard of locking the grades.  I just looked in a few places to do that but did not see it.  Either way, I feel that eventually the student should be able to delete these off the list, maybe not the next day but sometime.  Less work on the teacher, I say this as both a teacher and parent.  My son having an overdue assignment from last semester got me looking into this issue.

I love this idea!  Sometimes, such as when using an external tool as an assignment, there is nothing to submit.  However, I still like using the due date feature as a reminder.  This would be a great solution!

I agree. There's too much clutter, my teachers don't remove the assignments, and they're posted as reminders.
