Student Annotation

Seguir

It would be nice for students to be able to use the annotation featurs like teachers have when grading to annotate pdfs and documents and be able to save the changes. In the app and standard platform

I agree, this would be great for students to be able to annotate PDF's to interact with the text. One of the main AVID strategies is students underlining, hi-lighting and circling the text they are reading. I am the AVID site coordinator and this is holding me back from recommending Schoology at conferences for AVID teachers. If students could open PDF's assigned in Schoology, annotate them and then save them to their google drive to review later that would be huge!!!

I agree. With the emphasis on close reading of texts in Common Core, this would be perfect. I would love for them to be able to annotate documents and save to their resources or submit without having to go outside the system or log into another program.

Absolutely! Having annotation in the hands of students will empower their digital student portfolios. Schoology, please enable this feature for course members soon.

We have pre-made worksheets and workbooks that are working. I think if the student could annotate these sheets it would be so much easier for all people involved. I know that I can use make an answer sheet butt then the student will have to flip back and forth between two windows. This will be a problem with 6th graders.

I see that this discussion is from 2015.  Now that it's 2017, has there been any headway made in this area?  I'd love my students to be able to annotate directly onto the PDFs I load into schoology.

I agree. This would be extremely helpful in creating a paperless classroom! My school doesn't have ipads, but chromebooks. This makes going paperless a bit more challenging.

It is useful to be able to annotate PDFs. Electronic copies are more portable for students, and helps reduce paper clutter for teachers.

Our students use annotation on almost all of their work (PDFs) in Google Classroom on mobile devices.  Students not being able to annotate in Schoology is a big obstacle in our discussions about moving to Schoology from G-Classroom.  Teachers can annotate, so student annotation seems like a quick fix.  The only obstacle I see is the inability to distinguish student annotations from teacher annotations.  Don't make this stop you from implementing.  We'll figure it out...  The sooner the better!

I would like to "lock" my students in Schoology while I watch them take a PDF assessment using Apple Classroom. If they open it in another app, then they can share the assessment to cheat. If they can see the test all at once, then they can "use the test to take the test.
