notification to students for late/missing assignments

Seguir

When deadlines have past, students have a bit of an issue knowing that they have anything missing--unless they double check the gradebook or calendar randomly.  Students would find it helpful to have a feature that notified them of a late/missing assignment (and if it linked to the assignment, so much the better).

Does anybody from Schoology read this? We're closing in on a year and a half and...nothing. This is a very valuable feature that should have been in there from the beginning.

This definitely a great feature. In fact a broad cast message or reminder option should appear above the Material Index. Though individually we can send messages, they still need to open the message. If a broadcast or a targeted message appears in the course home (Above course materials) that will have a greater effect.

YES! YES! YES! As a teacher AND a student, I have found this to be very helpful (as a student using the EPIC platform - Blackboard doesn't have it). A simple line/link right above the upcoming assignments that says something like "2 Assignments Past Due!" in bright red. It can link to a list of assignments past due but not turned in, each being a link to the assignment page.
LOVE Schoology! Would love to see this feature added!

I beg of you to add this feature. My students always lose track after due dates have come and gone and their grades are suffering as a result. any way to track /notify that an assignment is past due would help us tremendously.

Why hasn't this been answered? Sure has a lot of support. Hello, schoology, do you read these? Is this too hard?

This request has been answered, just not here...
In an email that Schoology regularly send out, outlining the planned updates and new features coming, the following was revealed:
    """
Notifications of Overdue Submissions: Phase II

Phase II of this release will feature overdue submission notifications in student upcoming feeds and on parent digest emails.

Phase I gave students and parents the ability to opt in to receive email, text, and in-platform notifications when students have overdue submissions of any material-type with a due date.

This is the most highly requested feature and will be great for student organization.
    """

Students and Parents already have the option to turn Email or Schoology Notifications on to notify them of overdue assignments, the above update will be released soon.

PLEASE do this, Schoology. It should not be a leap in programming, and quite frankly having missing assignments disappear from the dashboard view utterly undermines the usefulness of having students have a dashboard view at all.

Two suggestions for how to lay it out:
    1) simply leave the assignment in the "Upcoming" list and tag it with LATE in red the way late submissions show up on the teacher side. From a programming perspective, this is probably slightly easier to do.

    2) What I think is a better idea...if anything is late, instead of disappearing from the Upcoming list, it moves to a new section that would appear above the Upcoming list with appropriately alarming color use/graphics/etc. with a list of LATE ITEMS.

I went to my state big tech conference (EOTC) and was assured by Eric the eastern territory guy that this update would be out by late February. I sent him an email to follow up and received nothing. Come on guys deliver!

They have started to roll this out already. Parents have an option in their notification settings to receive emails for overdue submissions. One problem we have noticed that ungraded assignments are showing up in the overdue submission list. For example, a teacher puts in a non graded assignment to read a chapter in a book. Since it is ungraded, the teacher cannot even put in a grade to take it out of the overdue submissions area and off the parent email notifications.

Hello, Schoolology ! I have viewed answers from parents and teaching/admin staff but still do not know the Status of what is UP with the Late Notification issue from Schoolology staff ! This tool is useless unless a programmer can implement a solution for students to track instead of Parents to track.. Bold, red , flashing message should get their attention. My email notification does not work and its turned On so that does not help me. I want my student to keep track of assignments for himself. Please only include me in contact list if there is a SOLUTION. Thank you, Irene Taskar

Only seeing the teacher side of Schoology, is there an option for weekly progress reports for parents-students? This might be a nice way to gently remind kids/parents about over due assignments. I find with middle school students one reminder is not enough and even the sidebar is ignored.
