notification to students for late/missing assignments

Seguir

When deadlines have past, students have a bit of an issue knowing that they have anything missing--unless they double check the gradebook or calendar randomly.  Students would find it helpful to have a feature that notified them of a late/missing assignment (and if it linked to the assignment, so much the better).

This is exactly what we are looking for as well and would applaud the inclusion of this feature for the 2014-2015 school year. We would also like this to notify parents as well.

This is really an important missing feature. As it stands it is easy for students parents and teachers to miss missing assignments because as assignments pass the due date they disappear and are difficult to find.

Assignments that have submissions enabled should not disappear from the upcoming feed until something is submitted.

As a teacher I should be able to easily access a list of students who have not turned in the assignment so that I can message them and their parents.

I would also love to see Missing work listed up in my teacher notification area next to ungraded assignments and Quiz/tests. It is often more important that missing work is dealt with promptly.

Aerodynamics, from Greek ἀήρ aer (air) + δυναμική (dynamics), is a branch of dynamics concerned with studying the motion of air, particularly when it interacts with a solid object, such as an airplane wing. Aerodynamics is a sub-field of fluid dynamics and gas dynamics, and many aspects of aerodynamics theory are common to these fields. The term aerodynamics is often used synonymously with gas dynamics, with the difference being that "gas dynamics" applies to the study of the motion of all gases, not limited to air.

Formal aerodynamics study in the modern sense began in the eighteenth century, although observations of fundamental concepts such as aerodynamic drag have been recorded much earlier. Most of the early efforts in aerodynamics worked towards achieving heavier-than-air flight, which was first demonstrated by Wilbur and Orville Wright in 1903. Since then, the use of aerodynamics through mathematical analysis, empirical approximations, wind tunnel experimentation, and computer simulations has formed the scientific basis for ongoing developments in heavier-than-air flight and a number of other technologies. Recent work in aerodynamics has focused on issues related to compressible flow, turbulence, and boundary layers, and has become increasingly computational in nature.

I like the idea of having the "upcoming" column be more of a "To Do List" where the item stays on the list until completed or the due date passes. Maybe the item title could then drop lower down in the column to another list called "Past Due" or get highlighted in red. It would also be helpful to have the assignments that allow additional revisions to show as (1 revision remaining) in the "To Do List."

When creating the assignment initially it would be helpful to have the option to set an automatic notification to any student missing the assignment (and parent if you select that option) and set the time or number of hours ahead of the cut off whenever you want that notification sent, or even multiple notifications one 24 hours ahead one 6 hours ahead etc. Students and parents would appreciate this proactive step.

I need the option to select when I create an assignment whether assignments that are not submitted by the due date time will autofill with a score of "0" or whether the student is allowed to complete a late item with or without a penalty, or if the space is to remain blank. The current outcome of inserting "0" manually or resending the assignment is not efficient. Again an automatic notification should be sent explaining that the student did not submit the item by the specified time.

Yes, but not necessarly a notification but Schoology should keep a list of missing assignments for each students in each course. Student, parents and teacher should have access to that list. Right now, it is very tough for students and teacher to find what a particular student has been missing.

I 100% agree with this. Assignments seem to get lost in the ether when students are absent.

This would be a highly desirable feature that would cause me to plug Schoology to all the teachers in my circle of friends and family.

It would be very beneficial for the students to have notification of late or missing work! Also, if a student has late or missing work that there is a different icon for late and missing.(ie: L for late and M for missing) It would be helpful if when the l for late or m for missing is chosen that the student receives a 0 until work is turned in.

This is a great idea. However, it would be a good idea for a teacher to be able to turn off the reminder at the end of the quarter, when assignments can no longer be submitted.

Our district just joined Schoology. One concern I have is the responsiveness of Schoology to requests/suggestions: are clients listened to, how often does Schoology update their program, etc. I see this request has strong support, but I also see it was entered over a year ago. Have you received any feedback from Schoology regarding your request?

I can see this feature was requested a year ago and had many supporters. It really would be a very useful function and should definitely be implemented.

Here is an aspect to consider though: How long do you give teachers to actually grade the assignment before bugging students and parents that it is past due? Some assignments take longer to grade or are not submitted electronically for one reason or another (such as a test) to know that it was at least submitted. Please take this into consideration when possibly implementing this feature.

I would like it if we could program alert options when we set up the quiz or assignment. That way teachers could choose if we want warning notices sent out at a specific time before it is due, if we want a missing work notices to go out at the time when it was due, or if we want reminder notices to go out after the due date (once or at intervals). That would allow teachers to adjust it based on the responsibility level of their students and their specific situation. It would also be nice to put a button in the grade book or on the assignment results page where teachers could push out those notifications. If the notification could link directly to the missing assignment, students would be able to go right to it without searching through resources.
