Group-grading and Group-submission option for project-based work

Seguir

It would be helpful to have group work submittable for grading in the dropbox. In other words, 2 or more students from a class could co-submit work, and when I mark it, I can mark for individual collaborators.

Or even to apply a grade/mark across all students concerned with individual alterations available after that.

Yes! I don't understand the purpose of grading groups! When I assign a group film project with one group film and one student in the group uploads the film file to the dropbox then everyone assigned to the group should be automatically marked as having submitted the assignment.

And when I grade I should be able to put in one grade for the group but be able to change individual grades if necessary.

I use grading groups because I have a colleage who teaches the same subject to different students. That means we can show only our own students in the gradebook. All work is individual though. So not everyone has the need to assign group grades.

I would also love to see this feature. As mentioned in another request post: "PLEASE have a check box that says "GROUP GRADES AND SUBMISSIONS" where the student's submission will automatically be linked to the group, as well as the grade I apply." (https://support.schoology.com/hc/communities/public/questions/200486588-GRADING-GROUPS-USELESS-)

And, why can we not have an "email grading group" feature?

Barry, I believe we do. If you start a new message and type the name of a grading group it should show up.

Yes, totally a feature that needs to happen.

Why do we have to vote on this?  This is a no-brainer for group work!  How can you have group grading and not allow the group to see feedback collectively??!?!?!  Fix this now!

@Stephen, I am actually against group grading from an educational standpoint. I feel students do not deserve credit for other people's work. I would not want to encourage teachers to use this grading method, since it enables students to skip their duties. Group feedback though is something I would use. When I form groups of students on projects, I make sure they enter a task form, where each student is responsible for part of the job. Some will make a PowerPoint file, while another makes a report, etc.

Regardless of what your philosophy is on what actual group work is and grading around collaborative group work, being able to collaborate and share feedback is absolutely vital for a group to function and to improve as a group.  That's what I'm asking for.

For example: my students are currently finishing up a large PBL and one section created by a group member contradicts a section creation by another member in the group.  This affects both of their products in the assignment and they cannot see or share any of the annotations or feedback that I have made for.  Schoology is really ineffective for group assignments without the ability for students to see and share feedback given to all members of the group.  Even if students (or the teacher) could print out, save, download, or share annotations and comments would be a start.

Well said Stephen. Options should be available. I use grading groups to set my exams, so there I DON'T want a group mark, but there are other times it would be very helpful.

Your right, Stephen, it's not a clear cut issue. I also suffer from this. Sometimes a student is sick and that student has the files submitted. The other students cannot access the project files. I've tried several options for this, like portfolio, schoology groups, and outside tools like OneDrive/Google Drive. But it all feels disconnected, and should be integrated with Grading Groups, which is the most logical place, whether we grade individually or as a group.
