Hello,
Thank you for your feedback and I apologize for the delay.
Currently, we do have a way to give extra credit in Schoology: https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/articles/212819367-How-Can-I-Give-Extra-Credit-On-Schoology-
Please let us know if you continue to experience any difficulty and we'd be happy to help.
We need extra credit!
I agree. I would to have a way to create an extra credit assignment (or quiz).
I can do it on schoology (make an assignment worth zero points, then add points) but it won't sync to PowerSchool.
I created a test that was supposed to be entirely extra credit. I set the possible points to 0 and, because Schoology tests adjust for the final score, it did not count towards extra credit for my students. Is there any way to make a Schoology test/quiz truly "extra credit?"
yes please - as a question inside a test and as an entire assignment or test
I have teachers in my building also requesting a way to make a test questions "extra credit." While I do not use extra credit, it would be helpful for many. Please consider adding this feature.
Yes please! Extra credit is always welcomed!
I would like the extra credit option too. What I did today was add 25pts on top of the 100 ( 125/100) for that class work assignment. I tried some other ways but because of the overall points it wasn't working. Any students who chose not to do it were excused.
One way I've found to give extra credit is to not include the extra credit points in the total points when creating a test. For example, if you have a 15 point assignment and 5 of those points are extra credit, them make the assignment total out of 10 points. If a student gets the extra credit correct then they would have a score of 15/10 which would give them the extra credit.
We need to be able to add extra credit and have the ability for the student to get over 100 percent!!
optional extra credit point values would be a great incentive to get students involve and familiar with schoology, but also not penalize students if not as gifted in using technology
The support center suggests that this will work if you add an assignment and give it a "zero" grade. But it doesn't seem to work. I put in a score of 100/0 and the overall grade did not change at all for my student. I tried entering extra credit as a "grade column" and I could not affect a change in the grade.
The only way that I've been able to account for extra credit grades are to add a 1 point assignment and then give the extra credit as a score above one. So 5 points of extra credit will be entered as 6 points out of 1.
Why does the extra credit show up with a letter grade of an F next to the score? For example it shows F 5/0.
This is very confusing for students and parents.
The issue for me is extra credit on an autograded test or quiz. If I make a 30 question/30 point quiz and want three of those points to be extra credit, for example. I tried setting it up the quiz as 27/30, thinking the extra points would be the extra credit. Instead, it graded the assignment as if each question was worth .9 points instead of 1 point each. This wasn't a problem when we were hand-entering the grades into our school's online grade-book, but now that we're syncing grades, I have to manually adjust the points anyway, which defeats the benefit of being able to synch grades!
agreed. ideally there is an option to make specific questions on a quiz/assessment xc.
