get rid of LONG names attached to files downloaded outside of Schoology in iOS app


It used to be that when students downloaded a file (we use Notability), the file from Schoology would download with the name we teachers named the file.  Now when students download a file from Schoology into another app, it attaches a LONG web address-size name that is garble-d-gook.  Students now have an extra step of re-naming their files each time, if they even take the time to do that.  If they do not, trying to find the file a second time, even a day or two like sorting through a junk drawer.

This did not used to happen.  Can we go back to the way it was where the files downloaded with their original files names?

    Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

    We’ve reported this issue to our Engineering team with a priority of Moderate Impact. This means that we understand downloading attachments in the Schoology app is not working fully as intended, but prioritization of this issue is weighted against more urgent issues and other features we are developing. As a workaround, students can download attachments using the mobile browser on the iPad, such as Safari, or download the attachments on a web browser on a computer. 

    Please let us know if there is new information about this issue that might change the priority. If it can be included in a larger scope of work or the priority changes because we missed something from you or hear back from other Schoology customers about this issue, we’ll let you know.
