Attendance changes

Seguir

For those of us who use Schoology and don't have classes meet every day—

It's frustrating when backtracking to edit attendance and hitting Save marks everyone present for the current day, even though that's not when class met.  I understand the checks are automatically added to save clicking time, but I think there could be a different way to do it.

For instance, at the top of the calendar, there could be a check box.  Check the box to mark everyone as present or leave it blank if class didn't meet that day.  For those of us teaching college courses, attendance is important for Financial Aid reasons.  I don't want it to look like I'm marking people as being present on days we don't have classes when they are reviewing students' attendance.  There should at least be an option to erase information from a week or student.  But if the check box was there, you could easily check or uncheck the box retroactively.

Edit: it would also be helpful if it saved automatically like the Gradebook as I forget to hit Save constantly.

    Hello All,

Attendance in Schoology no longer defaults to showing present icons for all students on days when the class meets. Instead, the course admin must click Start or click into one of the cells in a column to begin taking attendance. After either action is performed, the course admin will see all the present icons fill in automatically.

We hope this helps clarify and streamline taking attendance in Schoology. For full details, please visit this Help Article: https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/articles/201001913-Courses-Attendance

Yes! As an addendum, Schoology could solve this by letting us indicate when various sections meet and then having ONLY the relevant days show up for attendance-marking.
