Missing Work Report

Seguir

I would like to be able to show students a list of missing assignments. I know that I could pull up or print the whole gradebook, but I would like to limit the assignments shown to those marked missing.

    Hi all,

Thank you for your post.  We understand your frustration and your desire to have this feature in Schoology.  However, it's important to know that our team reviews every idea that is posted,  but we do not respond to every post. We would typically reach out when we have clarifying questions about what you’re trying to achieve, and how implementing your idea can improve your experience with Schoology.

Our team reviews the requests and organizes them based on the area of the product, your role in Schoology, and whether the idea fits into a larger strategic initiative. For example, we may compile a list of top requests for parents, or most important requests for assessments. Therefore, not all feature requests will be implemented. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Here's an article that explains how the feature ideas process works at Schoology.

This would be a great feature! I would like to be able to view and print a list of missing assignments for all of a student's classes to use in intervention, special education, and advisory classes.

As a special education teacher, this would be a vital tool. I have a homeroom setup but I cannot run daily reports to get a single-source "missing work" report for each class of each student in the room. It seems like the data is all there, we just need an ability to run an automatic report that will provide information on all late/missing work and grade information for each student in a class.

Ideally, I could just click a button and the data could be pulled from each students' schedule/grade info. I can go in and click through each kid and do it manually, but anything that is so repetitive and available really should be able to be programmed.

I found in our school's previous system, I made a "missing items" print out a part of weekly life for my students.  I could also download a PDF and email it to parents :)  Missing this feature right now :(  HELP Schoology engineers!

It's almost impossible to use this software because of the absence of this feature.  It's a time consuming nightmare.

This needs to be a feature. Instead of notifying students when an assignment is overdue, it would be better if it notified them when something was missing. Otherwise, they may be getting invalid notifications because the teacher hasn't graded an assignment yet.

    I wholly concur with above.

Our teachers have expressed a great deal of interest in being able to print a simple report for missing assignments for each class period.  Otherwise, it is incredibly cumbersome to keep two sets of records when Schoology is supposed to make it easier.

Yes yes yes! I assumed this feature must exist and I was just missing it. I can't believe this is not included. It should be extremely easy to get the database to generate a missing work report.

And, be able to send a notification to parents and students weekly or on demand of the report of missing assignments.

Our district uses Schoology in grades 4-12.  I am our district's technology integrationist, so I work with all of our teachers.  By far, the feature my teachers request most often is the ability to print out a list of all of their students' missing work.  This is true of classroom teachers as well as secondary teachers with advisees.  Please provide the ability to print out lists of missing work available in courses and in the advisor dashboard.  Our entire district will celebrate the day this feature becomes available!!!

Our previous grade book, Pinnacle, had great reports. Our teachers really miss the ability to print out missing assignments quarterly per class and a table quarterly that has students, assignments, and grades. Your spreadsheets are unwieldy, especially for full-year classes.

the only way our school can do this is to have each teacher add the word "missing" to a comment for each missing assignment. Why have a missing icon if it's not fully functional, if you can't generate a list based on it?! We really need this!

I agree 100% I would love to be able to print a missing work report for any particular student across all courses, not only from one course at a time.  I teach reading and language arts, and the courses are listed separately for each of my students (a reading course and a language arts course), and my students are separated into different rosters/courses based on if they are special ed., EIP, gifted, etc. so having to look into each assignment to see what students are missing across multiple courses is extremely time consuming. I have 10 rosters/courses even though I only teach 2 different blocks a day.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE! We're dying over here. Especially with all the remote learning work. How are my teachers supposed to keep track of all the workflow!?

C'mon Schoology product folks... please listen to this feedback. I'm a parent trying to help my two sons stay on top of their missing assignments.  I need a way to quickly scan and identify which assignments are missing, by class.  The current method of going in Grade Report, clicking expand/collapse per course, eyeballing which are missing, is too much.  It is clumsy and cluttered.  You need to unlock the data in this app and make it actionable for parents/teachers.  Please consider this.

So, this request was made 3 years ago and no response from Schoology?  Really?  Between having in person, remote learning, and many absences, this report is a necessity.

We need a missing work report. With all the available tech features, filtering for "missing" and gather for a report should be a low-level addition to this platform. To rely on our OTHER systems to do this after syncing grade books is avoiding a responsibility to your users who so desire to keep parents/students informed. This has been a request for now 4 years. The time it takes to gather lists and keep parties informed and current is a huge loss for teachers.

Hard to believe this feature doesn't currently exist. Our teachers rely so much on Schoology and our kids use the Upcoming, Overdue, and calendar features daily to help prioritize their work. The ability to run missing work reports would further support teachers and families in the critical work of developing and practicing executive functioning skills.

As we are coming up to conferences, the teachers are begging for a way to do this.  Please please give us this function without downloading into excel.

This feature would help teachers so much and make Schoology better in helping us save time and increase our ability to follow through with the students.

I've been watching this request for 3+ years and thought I'd toss out another plea.   Please, please, please, develop a report function that allows teachers to run missing/incomplete reports.  The ability for principals to run a grade level report would be an added bonus but teachers being able to generate a class report is very necessary.  There have been upgrades made to the gradebook over the years, and these are much appreciated, but the missing/incomplete work report is the #1 request that I get from teachers in my district.

I also would love to see this feature added! I know for sure that probably every teacher would love to have this optional tool for intervention and support! Why is it taking so long to get it done???

    Nina,

I understand your response, but there are many requests that are not difficult to implement. What if my idea doesn’t fit into the larger initiative? Many requests that have languished for YEARS should be basic features of any LMS. An LMS should allow the classroom teacher to interact with the students digitally as they would in the classroom.

The entire point of the LMS is to assign, collect, and grade student work. Teacher/student communication is next, with teacher/parent communication not far behind. Sure there are other bells and whistles, but they are not core functionality required by teachers and students. You have to get these right even before you worry about tying it into the bigger picture of working with an SIS, although you can do all of it at the same time.

Being able to easily call up missing work to show students, parents, and the teacher is crucial to the education process. The data is there. I was in software development for a decade. This request shouldn't be hard or too time-consuming.

I know Schoology belongs to a company that is in business to make money, but if the tool is not student/teacher centric, then what is the point?

There are so many needed teacher requests that could be knocked off a little at a time.

I've used this product as a system administrator, a teacher, and a parent. I will say, parents get emails (in my school) every week and it has all of the missing assignments in the email. I'm assuming the code is already there for this to happen. I think students would benefit from this as well, having one spot to see all of their missing work instead of going to each individual class and hunting it down.
