Multiple files for one assignment

Seguir

Sometimes there are multiple files needed for one assignment. For instances: a video project might include a script and a video. Right now Schoology allows multiple file submissions but what if the teacher could have more than one slots for students to submit in one assignment.

Good idea. That would work for the students but then I wouldn't have the ability to use Schoology's web viewer to grade.

The ability to identify how many items should be submitted would be great. Also with that it would be great to choose whether to use a single rubric to score all of the items together or a separate rubric (or numeric/alphabetic) scoring option for each item.

Using the example above, I might want to use a different rubric for the script than I would for the video, depending what I'm assessing. This would allow the student to better understand where the scoring was being applied.

My students routinely provide multiple files in response to an assignment. I have to download each student's files into a separate directory. Currently this means downloading each file separately as there is, it seems, no way to download multiple files from one student into a specific folder. Because they are submitting often multiple times per week it is unreasonable and time consuming to ask them to zip and then for to unzip each time.

If someone knows how to do this please enlighten me. I would love to be able to do this.

You can download all of the submissions from all the students for one assignment by clicking on the green download arrow next to "Submissions" (see included picture). It is all zipped up together. I hope that this works for you.

This feature allows for downloading all files for a class, but not per student.

My students are submitting assignment responses at different times throughout the semester as they complete their work and re-submit assignments after revisions. I do not want the whole class's assignment to download every time specially as some students may not have submitted anything.

I'm more interested in the ability to upload multiple assignments (e.g. written report, slide presentation, and reflection) and score each component separately.

    • It can be confusing for students to have multiple different assignments that are all part of the same project.
    • It's tedious for students to have to re-submit assignments for each component of an assignment.
    • It's also cumbersome for the teacher to repeat instructions in separate assignments or when scoring the work with multiple submissions - the scores are overwritten - if the submissions are different components of the same project.

Another option would be to have a project option. The main screen would be the description of the project, and then there could be assignments within the project that are either different components or checkpoints along the way. Each component/checkpoint could have its own scoring option.

I have created a solution for this, using PHP. You will need a web server (hosting online) with PHP and ftp upload access. You will then have to make two files, with api key and secret codes, which you can request from schoology support. All the code is on GitHub.

    Download zip file

You can download individual files, all files for one user, or all files for a grading group. I am working on more features to make it easy to use, like import and setup options.

    Here's a screenshot:
