It would be nice if a student's work moved with them when they got to a new class. We have a lot of changes at the beginning of the year, and kids have to resubmit a ton because of it.

Hi Elizabeth,
Thank you for participating in the Schoology Community. You can carry the student's work from one class to another within the same course. Once you're done with a class you can change the grading period to the new school year grading period continuing with the same course enrollments.

No, you can't carry work from one section of a course to another. You can't even automatically carry grades.
If your courses are linked and the student transfers from one of those linked sections to another, then the grades and materials transfer. That is the only way.
This just became an issue for me. I have 3 sections of an intro course. A students was moved from 5th period to 1st period...all of their work/grades are gone!
It also happens if the student is shifted from one section of a course to a different section that is not taught by the same teacher. Those sections could not be linked, so even the 'linked classes' solution doesn't work in that scenario.
