Dual Roles

Follow

In our district, we have Computer Science Teachers who teach classes and have assigned class rosters; therefore they are a Teacher role in schoology. At times, they can serve as a resource for the teachers, whom always are looking for password reset. Is there a way to have a dual role in Schoology so these specific teachers see their assigned classes and have all the functionality that teachers have, but have the one permission to change student passwords in their school?

    Hi Claire,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

While it's not possible to assign one account multiple roles, you can create a new role

After you've created a new role, you can enable all of the standard instructor permissions as well as the setting Administer Courses

Administer Courses will enable them to change passwords at the course level for any course in the building they're associated with. To do so, they should navigate to the course, click Members, click the gear icon next to the student and then Change Password. Please bear in mind that Administer Courses gives the user access to all courses in their building, regardless of their own enrollment, and will enable them to act as an additional course administrator. You can read more about this permission here.

Administer Courses is located under Tools User Management Permissions Administration Settings > System Administration > View Courses > Administer Courses

    I hope this helps!

    Best,
