Student Q&A

How can I resume a previous test?

In the image below, you can see I have 1 submission and one previous attempt. I would like to know how I can resume the previous attempt (attempt #1). For anyone wondering, resuming is enabled on this quiz, and, the reason I have 0/5 on my second attempt is because I was thinking that submitting that one might allow me to resume the previous attempt. I spent over an hour on the first attempt, and to lose all that progress would suck.

Thanks in advance.

    Hi Alexander,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Starting a new attempt effectively closes the earlier attempt and creates a new one.

In this case, we recommend reaching out to your course admin (your instructor) directly for assistance. The course admin can Unsubmit and then Delete attempts on your behalf. By deleting Submission #2, you should be able to access Submission #1 again.

They can do this from the Results tab of the Test/Quiz: Results View By Student > Scroll to Alexander Weimer > View Attempts > Click the gear icon next to the attempt to Unsubmit > Click the gear icon again to Delete

Once you have access to Submission #1, you will only be able to Submit or Start New Attempt

    Click Submit

The course admin will then be able to follow the steps above to Unsubmit Submission #1 (do not Delete). This will open Submission #1 again, at which point you can Resume the attempt.

Here are the steps, in summary:

    1. Instructor deletes Submission #2.
    2. Student submits Submission #1.
    3. Instructor unsubmits Submission #1.
    4. Student resumes Submission #1 and submits.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if you have any further questions about this.
