Instructor Q&A

Is it possible for one user account to be part of multiple organizations?

I have set up two courses for the volunteer firefighting corps I am part of.

While both are experimental trials of blended learning using Schoology, in one of those courses I am effectively an instructor and on the other I only provide technical support.

In order to keep my roles separated I created a secondary account (that is already linked to my main) which serves the role of instructor on one of the courses which means that my main account is the one that as the bulk of activity setting up courses/sections/resources/etc. and the secondary is meant to be the "public face" for the class to contact.

I am currently working on another volunteering project with my shooting club and while trying to set up a course for basic instruction I noticed that the school was automatically assigned as the firefighting corps.

I have not found any setting to change the account's school/organization so I would like to know if there is the possibility of having my main account not permanently affiliated with an organization so I could use it to work on multiple courses belonging to different organizations.

Kind regards.

    Hi Guilherme,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Every account within Schoology must be associated with an organization. For Basic instructor accounts in particular, the organization cannot be changed after the account is created and the account cannot be associated with multiple organizations.

In this case, you can make another account under the organization that your shooting club is affiliated with to create courses and link that new account to your main account using the same process you used for your secondary account. You can read more about linking accounts here: How do I link accounts?

    I hope this helps!
