Share link to a course materials?

Follow

Is there a way to share a URL to a specific item in course materials? Grabbing the URL from the address bar in my browser sends students to the general Schoology page and asks them to log in again. We're an enterprise school so they log in with their Google accounts through our domain-specific address.

Thank you!

    Hi Paige,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Here are some things to check to ensure your students are receiving the appropriate URL:

    • Are you logged in through your custom domain? If so, the URL should use your domain-specific address (rather than app.schoology.com) and the students shouldn't be rerouted to login through app.schoology.com.
    • Are you using linked sections? If so, the "child" sections would have a different URL than the "master" section. Students might not be able to access the URL if they're in a different section.
    • The URL for a specific material may be different for students and teachers. For example, when a teacher views a test/quiz, they might see the URL end in "assignment/[unique id number]/assessment_results" but the student would need the URL to read "assignment/[unique id number]/assessment" because the Assessment Results view is unavailable to them.

I hope this helps! Please let us know if this does not resolve the issue you're experiencing.

OMD, I was logging into the wrong URL! I'll test that and see if that was the issue. Thank you!

Dear Yimei, This response is helpful, however, I am still wondering how I can share a link with students to an assessment. If teachers and students have different URLs for the same assessment, how can I as a teacher figure out the student url for an assessment and send it to the student? Thanks, Allen

    Hi Allen,

Thank you for reaching out in the Schoology Community!

Typically, when teachers create assessments, students are notified that a new assessment has been created. They are then able to click on the assessment to complete and submit.  In your case, can you please help us understand the purpose of sending them a link?

Are you attempting to send links to their email addresses instead of having them click on their notification tab in Schoology?

    Hi, Nina,

In response to your question on this thread, I have often created Schoology Assessments (since March) as a way of creating activities for students to do in (formative assessment) or after class (homework). I put these Assessments in subfolders of my courses, like this one, and I ask my students to work on the activities at specific times.

Currently, when I assign the Assessments I have created, I direct students to the folder that houses the assessment I want them to work on, and I tell them the name of the assessment so that they can find it.

What I am asking for is a way for me to send my students a direct link to different assessments I create when I want my students to work on those assessments (as opposed to when I create them), without forcing my students to sift through all the items in the folder to which I send them. (I teach sixth grade, and for many of my kiddos, finding a file in a folder can be surprisingly challenging!)

As a comparison, when I want to have students work on an activity in Quizlet, there's a share button that allows me to send students straight to the activity that I want them to do.

For example, I can copy the link below and post it for my students at any time:

What I'm asking is, why isn't there a "share" button for assessments on Schoology?

    Thanks,

    Hi Allen,

Thank you for your detailed response!

Schoology encourages instructors to utilize Course Assessments as we continuously add more features. While the long-term plan for Schoology is to enhance Course Assessments, currently  a "share" button for assessments is not a supported feature in Schoology.

I am going to move your post to our Feature Ideas forum so that others can upvote your post to show support.

Hi! I am also having this problem. I am trying to post a daily agenda through a google slides presentation that I have embedded in Schoology. I have copied/pasted assignment links into the presentation, but it redirects to sign in then the main course page.

I am also wanting to have direct links to assignments to post to a daily agenda so students can easily find all their assignments in one spot and click links to go directly to those assignments in Schoology.

I teach K-3 Art and have created a virtual classroom with clickable links using Google Slides. Everything is going well in terms of making objects clickable links to my demo videos and more EXCEPT I can't figure out how to link my assignment to have them up load a photo of their artwork and a link to their assessment. Is this at all possible? I hope so! If not please put this on future ideas. To keep my students engaged I went the virtual classroom route and especially to help my primary students who will get lost clicking on folders and scrolling through pages. I need it to be a one stop shop!
