what's the difference between the two ways to make a feature request?

I notice that there are two different ways to suggest feature requests. One is right here in the Community > Feature Ideas section. This allows users to see what others have suggested, as well as comment and upvote those ideas.

The other way is through the Submit a Request ticket system. That requires much more detailed information about your request (see screenshots). It would appear that these feature requests are not public. 

My question is what's the difference between the two ways to suggest a new feature? Does one way get noticed faster? Given more priority? If not, why are there two different ways to do the same thing? It would seem that good ideas could fall through the cracks or get duplicated that way...

    Hi Colin,

    Thank you for posting your question!  Ticketing support is a feature of our Enterprise subscription. You can see what’s included in Enterprise here

    For Enterprise users, the benefit of submitting a ticket version of your feature idea is that this enables Support Contacts at each district to view ideas submitted across their organization. This allows System Admins to better support their teachers.

    However, our team also wants to see which features are requested more broadly across all Schoology users -  Basic, Enterprise, large and small school districts!

    The Feature Ideas forum in the Help Center allows for a broader discussion of ideas, with contributions and votes submitted by educators across the Schoology community. Our team actively monitors this area to consolidate duplicate requests, ask questions about your ideas, offer workarounds, and update you if a request is completed!

    Don't worry: both methods of submitting your idea are monitored by Schoology! Think of the ticket version as an Assignment (between you, your System Admin, and our team) and the forum as a Discussion (where other educators can share insight and support for your idea).
