Student Member Login Issues

My students are unable to access my course, despite entering the access code I gave them.

I have sent a request for help last week to Schoology and am still waiting for a solution for this. I have also noticed in the Schoology Community Forum that this has been a common complaint from students, parents, and teachers for the last couple of years without a specific reason or solution made in response to others' public complaints.

Since this is a common problem, can Schoology post a public solution for us to correct this on our own or at least inform us that the course needs to be individually unlocked and reset by a Schoology tech? What is the solution for this ongoing issue? Operator error? Program design issue? 

Feeling in the dark here... How soon can I expect to get some feedback.

    Hi Katrina,

    Thank you for reaching out! Very sorry for any inconvenience you and your learners have experienced when trying to sign up.

    We do have some troubleshooting steps that may be a little hard to find, that are posted here. I've also made sure these troubleshooting steps are included in the help article: Join Courses (Students).

    Here are some troubleshooting steps related to this issue:

    1. Check to make sure students are entering the Access Code into the correct area in Schoology:

    • - If students are registering for a new account, make sure they are following these steps.
    • - If students already have a Schoology account and want to join another course, make sure they are following these steps.

    2. Also make sure that students are entering Course Access Codes via the processes listed above. If students attempt to enter a Group Access Code in the area in Schoology to join a course, they will receive an error (and vice-versa).

    3. Please double check the Course Access Code is being entered correctly.

    If this issue persists for you and your students, please let me know and I will be happy to research the issue in more detail.

    Thank you Charles.

    This was very helpful and we discovered that the students had indeed been using the access code to add a "Group" instead of adding a "Course". Once we discovered this, the students were able to add my course.
