Hi everyone.

 

I am trying to allow all staff in our staffroom course to be able to add events to the calendar. I have added them as course admins but when they go to type in the course name on editing window it does not appear as it does for me.

Could anyone please advise?

    Hi Paul,

    Can you tell me a bit more about your goals? 

    So far, it sounds as though you have two:

    1. 1. Allow staff to add events to a course calendar.
    2. 2. Edit the course name.

    Since you've made them Course Admin, are they able to create events on the course calendar? 

    Can you tell me more about other Course Admin changing the Course Name? Do you want Course Admin to do this? What would be the use case for other Course Admins to change the course name?

    Hi Charles. No I just want staff in a particular course to be able to put an event on the calendar only visible to members of that course. The purpose of this is to add any announcements that may need to be announced on a particular day. I read instructions that to do this, you must be an Admin of the course. I made the staff members admin but they are still not able to add events to the calendar visible to everyone in the course. They can add their own events, but when they try to make it visible to everyone in the staff course the option is not available. Does this make sense?

    Any solution or suggestions to this from the Schoology team? Is there a number I can call?

    Hi Paul,

    It sounds as though you have the course & access set up correctly. Can you provide detail about the process your staff uses (what steps did they take) when they are attempting to add an event to the course calendar?

    Hi Charles,

    They click on the calendar symbol at the top of the page, then click on a date. They enter the event title and then description in the box that appears. At the bottom where you are given the option of inputting the group or course you want to share the event/ announcement to, when they start typing or search for the course, it does not appear as an option. Any ideas?

    Hi Paul, 

    How about when they navigate to the course itself and try adding the event to the course calendar from there? Does that work for them?

    If not, happy to investigate in more detail.

    I got it sorted thanks. I think it was a certain permission I didn't have ticked.
