Pinning an update?

Follow

I would love to "pin" an update to the top of my updates feed... For example, I wrote an update with a work bank of frequently misspelled words for class, including my name, and I like that to be right there for students when they log in an land on the updates page.

You can kind of do this by using the announcement feature: https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/articles/201002603?

Blackboard has an Announcements page that works that way, and it's very convenient and effective. I use it as the course landing page because the most recent announcement (or update) is right there, and students don't have to go looking for it.

I would love to see this feature extended.  We are using the update feature for our school and we do not have the ability to pin particular items on the school updates.

I see where it was said that this was possible but I don't see how to do it.  Can we get an explanation?

    Hi Nicky,

I apologize for the inconvenience. Are you receiving that message when you click the link for the video I posted or are you receiving that error when you try to create an announcement in your course?

Here is another Help Article that details the announcement process: https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/articles/201001963-Courses-Course-Updates

Ok, yes, I am familiar with that process.  With the school feed though, it is a combination of all posts that a person is a part of.  Is it possible to "pin" a post so that it will be at the top of everyone's feed no matter what.  This would be good for major announcements such as school delays, cancellations, etc.  As it is, if I post an update such as this and then a teacher posts a class update after mine, my MAJOR announcement could get hid down in the feed and never be seen by some students.

    Hi Nicky,

While this is not currently supported in Schoology, it sounds like a really great idea! Please consider creating a Feature Idea detailing your approach to this functionality. Here are some guidelines on how to effectively post a Feature Idea: https://support.schoology.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/115006474207-Welcome-to-Schoology-Feature-Ideas

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on how to make Schoology even better!
