A nice feature addition would be the ability to annotate pdf/documents within the student app similar to how teachers can mark up student work in the app. Teachers could then post handouts/documents for the students, students could open them in the app (as they can currently) and then they could annotate and save their marked copy to either their own resources or submit back to an assignment. It would seem this would be possible as the annotation ability is currently there for teachers.

I think this would be awesome. I actually think that after some sort of Assignment list functionality, this would be the most useful!
I believe that the app Notability allows this to happen quite easily.
The OP is referring to not having to download attachments, and just opening them within schoology to annotate. All of my students have notability, and you can certainly do some amazing things, but the basic function of writing answers into a pdf without a 3rd party app is what the OP is talking about.
Keeping annotation within the Schoology iPad App would be the use-case I vote for. Numerous other apps do allow for that functionality, but allowing a student to remain in the course would definitely have benefits for authenticity.
I would love this. I could assign students an assignment to find and correct the errors. The annotation feature would enable them to show me they know why the mistake exists.

I would love to see this. It will make Schoology a complete paperless system. I use Notability at the moment, however it would be more efficient if Schoology added this function.
Wonderful idea! My students use Notability on their iPads, but having it all stay within Schoology would be a game-changer.
This needs to a high priority. Please look into adding this.
Our Math teachers would also like this feature added to tests in Schoology as well. We use iPads and like notability as well, and this feature would be very helpful. It would be much faster and easier for students to annotate when it comes to math problems then type text into a box and/or attach a photo from another app. As several others have said before...this should be high on your priority list especially for those of us using the iOS app. Thank you.

I agree 100%. This is the ONLY thing that Google Classroom has on Schoology.
We are a Google School and this feature would be phenomenal.
I would like to "lock" my students in Schoology while I watch them take a PDF assessment using Apple Classroom. If they open it in another app, then they can share the assessment to cheat. If they can see the test all at once, then they can "use the test to take the test.
Have there been any updates to this?? With new 2nd graders coming in... virtually, this would help eliminate a great many steps for them.

AGREED. Schoology, can this be added for use with PDFs? Hoping to go paperless this year so that at home learners and in class learners can access the same guided notes and be able to save a digital notebook throughout the year. Would be amazing.
PLEASE add this as a feature! With virtual learning this seems like it would be an easy transition to give students the annotations that we have so that they can complete pdf assignments.

We definitely need this. In fact, teachers need better mark-up capabilities in Schoology too. WITHOUT having to transfer all docs to another app!
Seriously, it is well past time for this feature. Basic annotation tools for drawing, adding text and adding pictures on a document are needed. Think of a first or second grade student in your design. If teachers can annotate on submissions at least give students the same tools. This should be available on the web and app version.
We ABSOLUTELY have to have the student annotation feature in Schoology. It is the single most frustrating issue for teachers and students.
