Downloadable Sticky Note Comments

Follow

I comment a lot on my students' assignments using the sticky notes, but the students have no way to download their assignments with the notes. My students want to save my comments for future reference beyond the time period of our class, but they can't! Any way you could make this a downloadable feature?

Meg - Can they view them at all? I used that feature from home, and made tons of suggestions on a sticky note thinking they could view the note, and when I went back to try and share the document back with them the sticky note doesn't go with the document. Is that what you mean?

Well, they can see the notes, but they just can't print out the document with the notes included. (If that makes sense.) My question is related more to a feature that would need to be added as opposed to a malfunction.

Thanks Meg! I didn't think that they would be able to view all the notes I left. Don't mean to bother you, but do I have to download every google doc they sent, and reattach it back in the submission file for them to view my comments on the sticky note?

Hi Loriann! I've never had to download any of the docs--I just open the file from Schoology, comment on it, and save it. They should be able to see all the comments--I've never had anyone say that haven't. Just be sure to "save changes" at the bottom before you close out the document. That's just my experience, though--I'm just a Schoology user, so you might want to start a new support question if you're having technological problems and need the Schoology people to answer! Good luck!

Comments work great as Meg states. I also copy my comments in to a document to use later while grading the assignment. That way when another student makes a similar mistake or has a similar answer I can paste in a comment from the document instead of retyping everything.

We need to save some papers from year to year in hard copy.  Is there actually a way to download papers with the yellow sticky note comments expanded, in the margin, etc?  Or must you be online in order to view them?  Thanks!

I also would like to know this, Laura Yoder. I want to print off what they have done with the sticky notes, so they don't have to keep switching screens to see the notes. When they start a new draft/submission it moves them to a new screen and they can't see the notes that I made on their paper. I also would like to keep it handy for grading to see if they made changes that I suggested.

Has there been any progress with allowing teachers or students to print a version of their submission with the sticky notes and comments?

Our school keeps digital portfolios of each student's best work. Additionally, for our WASC accreditation  we need to demonstrate feedback and revision. Teachers would appreciate Schoology more if they could download a doc with the comments in the margin for these work sample collections.

If you are using the Schoology app on an iPad, you can share the document (arrow button in upper right corner). When you select the arrow, you will be prompted to choose the file format. If you choose "Share Converted PDF", it will display the comments on the document. You then have the choice to open in another app, so you can print it (including save as a PDF through the print function), email it, import it to Google Drive, etc.

I haven't tried Kimberlie's iPad approach from the Student Account. We need it as an Advisor going into a student account.

Sorry if I wasn't clear - I did this from my teacher account, looking at a student's submitted assignment that I left a "sticky note" on.

I am a student and I can not see the post-it notes my teacher said she left for me.  How can I see these?  Are they directly on my document I turned in?  Could my computer be blocking them?

    Hi Sherri,

It sounds like you're referring to comments left directly on your assignment.

We are currently experiencing an intermittent issue with assignment comments. This issue has been escalated to our Engineering team. However, the behavior is usually resolved by refreshing the page.
