Marking Period Grade override

Follow

This is a long one:
I have talked with Schoology support about a Marking Period override for a FINAL marking period average. It does not exist, I want to post this to the Schoology community to see if there are others that have this problem to see if it can be become a feature:

Problem: Our school has a policy that a student can NOT receive a marking period average of below 50 for the 1st two marking periods (out of 4) in a school year. The reason is so they do not get discouraged and realize that there is no way to mathematically pass the class half way through it. Philosophies on this aside, schoology then becomes misleading and messes up the teachers gradebook for the year and then the schoology gradebook will not give the correct average for marking periods 2, 3 and 4.

In other words: If a kids earns a 33 for marking period 1, we need to be able to override that and give them a 50 as that is what will show up on their report card. If any of this makes sense and there are others with this problem can you please post in the Schoology Community, hopefully I will get enough support to have this added.
Thank you.

This is important for us as well. There are rare times when we need to do a manual override of a quarter or semester grade.

I agree. Another example: a student might begin school late in the quarter. His grade average for the quarter is based on just one low test grade. We would like to either make that quarter grade blank, or allow the teacher to manually input a grade which she thinks better reflects his learning.

This is becoming a huge deal to me as well. I had this problem last year with Schoology and am having it now. The first term is set to end on 10/31 (today) and I can no longer change grades for my classes!!!!!!!!! What the heck is THIS all about!!!! I have to add a couple of grades in for students and now I can't?!?!?!?!? I hate to say this, but this may become the deal breaker for me!
Has there been a solution for this problem at all?

Have not heard back from anyone at Schoology on this. I realize 4 people making a feature request such as this may not be enough, but I would at least like to know where schoology stands.

Add me to the list of people would need to be able to override a term grade (trimester/semester/overall). This seems like kind of a big oversight.

I agree. There are several situations that come up during the year and grades need to be adjusted accordingly.

I agree as well. We have had several new students arrive after quarter one and as recently as this week, and we need to be able to correctly adjust their grades.

A marking period override is important. It is the teacher's ultimate decision what a student's official marking period average is and, as Mr Roy notes, school policies often demand minimum grades. The easiest way to have Schoology reflect what a student's actual cumulative average is would be to allow teacher's to override the final average each marking period if needed.

Are there anymore users out there that would like the marking period override feature.?

Still waiting a solution for one of the most demanded requests. Do they ever really read our posts? Let me doubt it

Thanks to those that have responded and supported my request. I am not sure if your requests for this feature represent just you or a larger population within your district. Perhaps emailing a link to this page to your faculty will help increase the number of supports for this feature?
    Thank you

Thank you! I am in the exact same situation. This is a major flaw in the Schoology system.
