Google Drive Search Feature

Follow

Good Morning,

I love the integration with Google Drive but if there is any way to add a search feature to it that would be amazing. It's difficult for some of my students to scroll through their entire drive in order to find the file they would like to attach.

Thanks

    Hello All!

We are happy to report that search is now available within the Google Resource App! The search will pull from document titles and within the body of the document itself.

Thanks again for all of your great feedback! We look forward to bringing more of your ideas to Schoology in the future.

Yes, please! The search capacity of Google Drive is a HUGE feature... i.e. there's less need to organize by folders and remember where you saved things. To not have that in the Google Drive integration in Schoology is a crippling oversight.

A search feature is a necessity. The ability to sort by last modified would be another solution. Our students have a significant number of files in Google Drive. They need an easier way to locate them within the APP

This feature would be VERY much appreciated, especially as we are a Google Apps for Education school.

Please-Please-Please! add a search. At the very least could you sort the files and folders by name so we can find what we need. At present, the random display of files and folders is terribly painful having to scan file/folder namesas I scroll.

I can't figure out how to find any files from my Drive. There seems to be no rhyme or reason as to how the drive files are organized. They don't seem to be in alpha order or by date modified or by most recent. I have a ton of files and can't find what I am looking for. We definitely need a search box and could also use a way to sort the view - by date - name, etc. PLEASE!

The only thing I have found that helps is to have students create a Schoology folder and place files they need in there prior to searching drive within Schoology. Crappy answer but I don't see any answers from Schoology here and don't anticipate this being fixed. :(

It currently sorts be last modified. being able to sort any other way, say alphabetical, would be nice.

Google Apps integrates nicely with Schoology, but having the sort option is critical for students, they don't have the time to search through hundreds of documents to find the one they want to submit.

I agree that the organization of Drive from Schoology is less than desirable.  Ideally, it would look like my Drive and mirror the organization I've created.

As a work around though...... while in Drive from Schoology you can still use the web-based 'Find' feature.  If you do "Ctrl F" you can type a key word (title?) to find on the displayed page.  It actually works pretty well.  It doesn't resort the documents but will highlight the word in the title and give an indication mark along the side for all the other places in the Drive list where the word also appears.

I believe a sort feature is needed. Teachers and students need to be able to organize by file name or by date. The randomness of how the Drive files appear is a problem. I do use the CTRL F to find, so that is helpful.

Even using the Find command doesn't work if you have files inside of folders.  I had to move a file out of my organized folders for it to be found in Drive.  We really need a way to utilize Drive better from within Schoology.  For those of us who have virtually all of our work in Schoology organized in folders (and folders within folders), it makes it almost imposssible to use.

I see a way to switch between My Drive and Shared with Me.  Maybe a Recent option would help?  Of course, it would only be helpful if it found files that are in folders......  Any help with some added functionality with Drive would be appreciated!
