Missing Grades

Follow

It would be nice if there was a way to designate a missing assignment and have it counted as a zero in the grade average until it is completed.

We are working on large batch of grade book enhancements this summer. One of which will be a "missing code" for grade book that will count for 0 for a customer. Watch the Schoology blog for information on this release as it gets closer.

    Update as of 9/21/15
This "missing code" enhancement has not been released yet. It is in development with some of the remaining enhancements. Each will be released incrementally as they are ready. Thank you

For being absent is one thing, but when a student is late the use of late or la to show the assignment is past due and a zero put in the grade book until they complete the assignment

I need this option as well. That way I could keep up with what's missing and students would see the impact of their missing assignment. I would really like a way for the grade to automatically assign a zero after a certain date.

This is very important. Students, parents, teachers, and support staff need the ability to access a missing materials report with a click or two. Please fast track this on the development roadmap. I speak for an enterprise district of 12,000 students and a neighboring district that just adopted Schoology this fall. We are in MN. Thanks.

HUGE! This is basic stuff. Gradebooks have had this option for as long as I've been teaching.

Yes, it is VERY MUCH NEEDED. A missed assignment need to receive a missing grade, like a M (not necessarily a zero) and when the student makes up the assignment, we need to be notified if we need to grade it.

I would love to see a missing assignment icon become the trigger for sending a late notification to a student/parent.

I too am trying to figure out a way of showing a score is missing. I've tried entering an "m" and the page will recognize it as a "0" and still show an "m"; problem is as soon as the page is refreshed all of the "m"s go back to "0"s. I've tried to search for any updates for entering a "missing code" for students' scores and this entry was the only thing close to the questions that I have. Is there really a "missing code"? or am I just doing it wrong? or is it a glitch being worked on?

I just wish the missing assignment grades of zero didn't pull down the class average. They make my exams appear harder than they were because missing an exam isn't the same as taking it and getting a zero. Any chance we can have the option of missing assignments not counting toward the class average?

Dr.  Pfau, that is a good recommendation.  I will look at working that change into the schedule, but cannot promise a date at this time.
