Automatic Badges

Follow

Hello,
I would love to see ways to automatically assign badges depending on what a student accomplishes in Schoology.

Thanks...

This could be added as part of the student completion options of folders. If students have completed all the requirements of a folder. They receive a badge. Would be super useful!

I agree. Under assignment options you can align assignments to particular standards, it would be awesome to "align" assignments to a badge, too. Even just starting with a Complete/Not Complete criteria at first and possibly later adding more complex requirements such as a folder of tasks or specific score ranges.

Excellent idea! I came here to add this as a suggestion...voted up!

Agreed... came here looking for a way to do that. Especially for self-paced or progress monitoring... think Khan Academy and Sumdog both have auto badges. IS there a work around we could do?

Ditto - Great as a motivator and for me to keep track of what everyone has accomplished

I just upvoted a bunch of posts requesting this same feature. I would love to be able to assign badges automatically based on my own criteria (if an assignment is complete, or receives a certain score etc.)

I am creating an online part 1 of a course. Entrance to the in person Part 2 would be dependent on passing the test and presenting documentation. Because of the number of participants and the recurring nature of the course (I teach this twice a month to upwards of 60 people per session), I would like a way for participants to print some type of documentation when they have passed the test at the end of the course rather than my having to go in and check.

We have a lot of teachers using the student completion feature in Schoology with their blended learning courses and this would be a nice feature for "gamifying a classroom."

This would be a great feature to have!  Anything that can be automated should be so we can focus on value added things that require human interaction.  As I automate the routine stuff, I can add more writing and other authentic projects since I'm spending less time on administrative tasks.

Any movement on the automation yet? This was a request made in 2014 and it is still not available in 2016.

    This is available in Moodle:

    https://docs.moodle.org/30/en/Using_badges

Canvas (integrates into Open Badges framework)

    https://www.canvabadges.org/

At Schoology Next in Miami (July 2016), I spoke with CEO Jeremy Friedman and he said automated badges feature was on the roadmap:https://twitter.com/EdTechSean/status/752967052743348225

I really look forward to this feature, because when you have multiple courses, it's a real pain to have to manually go back and see who completed what and then go in to give them a badge, and then have to do this on an ongoing basis. #AutomatedBadgesPlease

Schoology NEXT 2017 is coming, will there be any movement on badges?  Automation, iPad support, anything?

I'm amazed that there is no rules based badge assignment.  Actually, saddened.  I even announced it to my faculty.  This first post was made in 2014.

It would be great to have automatically assigned badges, this would make using Schoology to gamify the class much easier for the teacher and it would also be great to gamify professional development for staff. This is something my district is hoping to do and we are waiting on Schoology.

This would be an excellent way to allow for more personalized learning!

Adding in integration for an open badges resource, such as badgr would be even more beneficial.  The open badges protocols allow for students to document the requirements for the badges outside of Schoology as well.

Just trying to keep this alive with a current comment.  WE NEED automatic badge system of some sort.

I'm with above, an auto assign of badges based on achievement in Discussions, Assignments, Assessments, Test/Quiz, Student Completion Rules, or most dynamic, in its own section where all sorts of criteria can be added (such as commenting on a Calendar event) similar to a Scouts/Cadets Badge system where an assortment of actions completed grant badges, not just tied to academic achievement.

I have to agree. I give out the original 150 Pokemon as badges based on various task completed throughout the year for EACH STUDENT!  I have my own staff aid just to help award badges. Our results in the class were AMAZING this past year, and I truly think the badges were part of it, as they really motivated the students.
