Viewing Grades of Unpublished Assignments in the Gradebook

Follow

Currently I use the publish/unpublish feature in Schoology to help students stay more organized. I do this by making visible only the Folder or Assignments they are currently working on. However, when I unpublish assignments then students no longer have access to look at the grades from previous assignments. I would like to be able to unpublish assignments but not the grades in the gradebook.

Anyone who has this problem... do you link sections? In one of my courses that had linked sections, unpublish removes it from gradebook. One another course that is only one section, not linked, unpublish hides it from my course but keeps grades in my gradebook. I keep testing this and it seems to work. Weird. This needs to be fixed, I can't have students shifting through 100s at assignments at the end of the year. Especially when they are trying to upload an assignment from an iPad. All assignments that are publish will show up!

    Hi,

We are having the same issue. I organize the students' work into folders, with the idea that when we are finished with that topic, I can hide the whole folder, so it doesn't clutter their course page. However, as soon as I do that, all of the assignments are automatically unpublished, and that grade no longer shows up on their grade book. I love that their grades are in real time, however, there's not use to it if only I can see the realtime grade, and not them.

Sorting this out would be really helpful. Perhaps making an option where anything that has a grade on it, regardless of whether it is published or not, actually shows up on the Grade book.

I understand the idea behind unpublishing materials, but there needs to be an additional option of hiding a folder once it has been completed so students are not getting confused and their grades on assignments/tests/quizzes within the folder do not disappear from the grade book. Please fix this quick! Folder organization is everything!

We had the same issue in my district.  We are Enterprise subscribers.  During a very brief Live Chat with Schoology Support I found out that Schoology can change a setting on the back end to allow linked courses to display grades in the gradebook for unpublished items.  The Support guy clicked something on his end and grades popped up in a linked section course immediately!  This is probably an option only for Enterprise & Enterprise + subscribers but still wanted to share this info since there are likely others that have no idea the fix was simply requesting a change of settings on Schoology's end.

My school uses the free version, not Enterprise. My students can't see their grades, either, once I unpublish a folder, which is frustrating.
