Allow student access to view GradeMark/PeerMark

Follow

I had teachers waste a lot of time adding comments to the GradeMark view of the Turnitin app, only to find that students cannot view these comments in Turnitin.  Either take away the GradeMark feature in Turnitin for teachers, or allow students to view the comments.  This makes absolutely no sense to allow teachers to comment, but not allow students to see it.  A hard copy would be much more efficient, and I rarely say that!

    Greetings Everyone,

Thank you for your feedback regarding this issue. We have been working with Turnitin to figure out why the comments were not appearing for your students and have made a change to ensure that students can always see the GradeMark comments.

That said, we are currently exploring other options to help alleviate the issues pointed out above.

When you are in the app, at the step where you can launch the Turnitin viewer (by clicking 'View Report'), it currently launches a new browser window with the Turnitin Similarity Report. We realized that in the current workflow there is no good way for you to easily access the actual Schoology submission/grading area.

We are looking to change this new window to have 2 tabs at the top (one for Turnitin, one for Schoology) so that instructors can easily tab between the similarity report and the Schoology Assignment Submission area. This way we can encourage grading to happen in Schoology and not worry about needing grade information to pass back/forth between the two systems (where there currently would be limitations for things like rubrics or the ability to automatically grab Turnitin grades).

We are also looking at providing options within the app Configuration area to allow you to disable GradeMark to compliment the changes stated above. (Note: PeerMark is currently disabled as we do not have support).

Our team would love to hear your feedback on these ideas or any other suggestions you may have.

    Thanks!
    Ryan

This is imperative. Otherwise...what is the point.

Students can see the GradeMark comments through Turnitin, right?

If teachers use Schoology to comment on student work, then students can see those comments within Schoology, right?

I suppose I wouldn't mind doing all my grading in Schoology if it offered all the features of Turnitin's Grademark--in particular the ability to create a set of "drop-in" pre-made comments. The simple fact is that Schoology's essay grading does not have the same level of functionality and flexibility as Turnitin. I had a great thing going with my Turnitin grading and now I've lost it. Please either allow students to see the Turnitin Grademark information or dramatically improve my options for grading natively in Schoology!

    Is PeerMark still disabled?
