I have students that are taking chemistry assessments and often their answer requires a super or sub script and fill in the blank does not seem to allow rich text. Is there a way to get it other than doing essays or multiple choice?

It would be nice for the rich text editor to be available for fill in the blank responses. Especially in math where students need to be able to write an exact equation for their answer, so it doesn't need to be subjective. And so we don't have to make a multiple choice question.
Foreign language teachers would benefit from using this feature with students as well. Adding the rich text editor to the fill in the blank questions again allows for a means to assess easily and quickly.
I agree. I am a math teacher and would like to put exponents in the answer blank for Fill in the Blank.
The tool is obviously available from a programming perspective, as it appears elsewhere. Making it available for quiz answers should be a non-issue.
Alternately, if equations can be entered in LaTex format they can be checked against the answers character by character like every other submission. Assuming teachers want to teach students this useful format, now they would have the motivation.
I would love to have rich-text for fill in the blank. I want my students to enter in radical signs and for it to be graded automatically. Multiple choice just doesn't work for this because they can just turn all the radicals into decimals to see if they match rather than learning how to find an exact answer.
I would heartily agree with these requests. Chemistry students REALLY need to be able to use subscripts when writing formulas and use superscripts to put numbers into scientific notation. It would REALLY add to the functionality of fill-in-the-blank if students could use the rich text editor.
I would also like to have the rich text editor option for fill in the blank not only for the students but for teachers as well.
We need this too. As a former Moodle district, we have many, many questions in the STEM areas that need more than plain-text options. There's no reason this type of question can't be rich-text and machine-scored. Thanks! :)
YES! This is very important, especially for languages, math and science. It is really limiting how much we can use the test feature in these subjects.
I have teachers asking for this feature in the fill in the blank and quiz portions of Schoology.
Yes please!
Adding this feature would have a dramatic impact on adoption from math and science teachers!
More font/text options need to be available EVERYWHERE - when writing multiple choice questions, open ended/fill in the blank, question writing, etc. Math, science, world language all need these options even at the most basic course level.
The first request for this feature was 2013...I assume this is not doable?
I am sending in my upvote that this is very important to our math department as well. Four years since the first response seems like enough time to add the option. Please!
Yes please add this feature. I really need it for my math classes, it would make everything so much easier!!
As another math teacher, I cannot emphasize to schoology how important the rich text editor is for the students to use in answering fill in the blank questions!!! I know this list above from the past six year is short but honestly, it took me a while to figure out how to login here so I could add my two cents. Most people won't bother with the hassle. Students need the immediate feedback that the fill in the blank feature affords them. However, they also have to be able to add more complex symbols. Please, I'm begging you. Add the ability to use the rich text editor to the fill in the blank responses for students.
Please allow subscripts, superscripts, and equation editor!!! How about being able to choose font.
It looks like this request has come up repeatedly since 2013!! Is there a better way to get a response from Schoology?
Allowing students the option for rich text formatting is needed.
Another Math teacher here. I agree with the above comments, Schoology. My students need to be able to write exponents and radicals when they answer. Please add the rich text feature for student answers to fill in the blank questions.
8 YEARS LATER AND STILL NOT DONE!!!!
