Automatic generation of emails based on missing assignments

Follow

In the Gradebook, I would like to see a way for Schoology to automatically email students (perhaps parents) when an assignment is entered as "not handed in."

    Hi all,

This feature is currently available in our Parent Email Digest.

    The Parent Email Digest contains:

    • The date range for which information is displayed.
    • Each of your children's names at the top of the email summary.
    • A summary of each course for the child, including:
      • The child's current grading period grade for each course.
      • A summary of marked attendance (late, absent, excused).
    • Overdue Submissions, including:
      • How many days the item is past due.
      • The assignment, test/quiz, or discussion title.
      • The course in which the item is due.

Assignments marked Excused or Missing will not appear in the digest, however.

For more information about the Parent Email Digest, please see this Help Center Article.

This would be a terrific feature for both students and parents.

I'm on board with that.  Or, alternatively, a way to email all students with a missing assignment (blind cc) without having to select them individually.  I would like to send the tardy students a second (final) deadline date, after which the assignment will be officially zero.  It would be great to be able to sort out those students without needing to manually select them.

This would be a great idea! It would also be nice to have the option to send an email to parents/advisors whose accounts may be connected to the struggling student.

Great suggestion (I was about to make the same one) but it would be a great stop-gap if you could select all those who have not submitted/completed/late and send a message manually. That would speed things along!

This would be great as long as the email/message was to each individual student missing the assignment/test not one email to an entire group. In other words, students would not see who else received the missing assignment notification.

Where is it available for the instructor to email the student?

    Hi Krista,

If the messaging permission is enabled at your organization, you can message your students by searching for them in the Members page of your course. Click the envelope icon next to the student's name and a message box will pop-up.

As an Enterprise user, you can also reach out to your Support Contact(s) if you have any further questions about this. You can find your Support Contact(s) by clicking Support in the footer navigation bar of your Schoology account.
