Shorter list of available assignments when studetns choose to "open in" schoology.

Follow

Currently the iPad app shows all assignments for the year when students go to submit HW from Notability or another app using the "open in" function.  For less focused students, this can cause confusion (Where to I put it?) and result in submissions placed in the wrong assignment.  I know I can hide or unpublish the assignment, but then students can no longer see their grade and feedback on that assignment.  It would be good to have the ability to make an assignment invisible for submission while still allowing students to see the work they have already submitted.  Thanks!

    Hi Everyone,

The current release of the iOS app, version 3.0, introduced Search and Filter options when using the "Open In..." function. With this feature, students can easily search for an assignment by entering the assignment's name, or use the filter option to filter by grading period or grading category.

We love getting your feedback, so please let us know what you think of this new feature.

    Thanks,
    Vickram

I know it is not the option you want to hear, but to workaround, I create a new semester course and start from scratch.

My department is having the same issue.  It would be great to have this as a feature!

We typically have ~30 assignments per quarter, so it becomes cumbersome pretty quickly.

Being able to segregate into quarters would be a big help.

I would also love this feature.  When students submit their assignments on the IPAD all of the assignments are listed in alphabetical order.  It would be very helpful if they were in date order so the most recent would be near the top and also if some could be hidden as my students are also submitting assignments to incorrect dropboxes as there are so many to chose from. Thanks!

Great idea to have them in date order--much easier for students to find their current assignment.

I have also found that if you open up individual assignments and disable the Dropbox that these also take them off the list of available assignments with a Dropbox. I did this for all of the assignments for the first quarter so now only my second quarter assignments are available.

I appreciate Tasha Engring's way of eliminating assignments, but it is really tedious, and when you've got more than 30 assignments per quarter is really time consuming. But Mrs. Serano, we are tasked as a school with using Schoology and have the "Enterprise" version, so I'd expect that there would be the ablilty to use Schoology with quarters instead of semesters (or in our case, a whole year). How about the developers get on making that happen? Really, how hard can that be?

I agree. This would be much easier for students to access. Or at the very least, the most recent item should be first.

Yes, agreed. Create a "toggle" that the teacher can turn on and off to choose to show homework assignments that actively show in the app. Mr. Landry, we also have the enterprise version and I use the same course for the entire YEAR, so that list gets to be VERY long.
Hopefully it is something that they can fix.

Hi everyone! I feel your pain! What I have done is to literally name the assignment with the date the assignment is assigned so that students see what the "newest" assignment is. For example: 11/04/14 Evaluating Functions. This method then lists them in date order.

As far as what Schoology can do, maybe when students are turning in assignments they can only see or are only given the option of selecting assignments that they do not have a grade for. I think this would be helpful for me and my school.

Has there been any update to this since two years ago?  I also find that it is cumbersome.  Why can't the list of assignments only include ones that have not been turned in, or at least newest one on top?
