How do I remove a grading period?

Follow

I originally had one grading period for my whole semester (Fall), but I decided to split it into two grading periods (Quarter 1) and (Quarter 2). I moved all of the assignments that I had under "Fall" to the appropriate  Quarter grading period, and the assignments page no longer lists any assignments under the "Fall" grading periods, however, for some reason, I can't delete "Fall" as a grading period, and it still shows up in grade reports with no grades underneath; it shows each assignment category, and N/A for each grade, which is really confusing for students and parents. How do I get rid of the "Fall" grading period?

    Hi Josiah,

To remove a grading period from your course, I recommend the following steps:

    1. Navigate to the Course Profile of your previous course.

    2. Select Gradebook in the left menu of the Course Profile.

    3. Select Grade Setup directly underneath Gradebook.

    4. Click on the Edit button to the right of Grading Periods & Final Weights.

    5. Deselect the grading periods you'd like to remove the the course.

    6. And Save Changes.

However, in your case, it looks like you might be experiencing an issue with a stray grading period that requires further investigation. Can you create a ticket with the Schoology Help Desk by clicking on the "Submit a Request" link above?

    Best wishes,

    Julie

I'm having a similar issue. I'm new, so I thought it would be easiest to have two grading periods in my semester course, but now I think it best to only have one. However, I followed the instructions from Julie, but I don't see where I can 'deselect' anything on the pop-up that appears upon clicking the 'Edit' button to the right of the 'Grading Periods & Final Weights' heading. Am I'm missing something?

I also can't delete a grading period.  if I deselect it as described above, it doesn't affect my grade book at all.  The grading period is still there.

The worst part is that the grading period didn't work in the first place; that's why I want to delete it.  Only one of my assignments that actually falls inside the grading periods date range actually shows up on the grade book in that grade period.

Any help would be very appreciated as I can't properly view my grade book if 1) I can't delete the grading period or 2) the assignments don't actually show up in the right place in the grade book.

Same here. I un-ticked the grading period but it still shows up on my grade book.

I am trying to archive a course, but am unable to because of an issue with a grading period. I was trying to resolve the issue, but I do not see any options to add, edit, or delete grading periods.

    Hello Frau Trost,

In your specific case, you will need to get in touch with your Schoology support contact at your school. You can find your contact by clicking the question mark icon at the top right of Schoology. If you are not able to contact someone at your school to help you with Grading Periods, please let us know.

    Thank you!

Am I in the same specific case as Frau Trost?  My school does not use Schoology, so I am just using a personal account.  I find that grading periods just don't work, so I have stopped using them.  I just use 'No Grading Period' all the time.
