Equation Editor for Fill in the Blank Questions

Follow

Adding Equation Editor to the Fill in the Blank questions in the Assessments tool would be extremely beneficial.  Yes, I know it is available in the short answer/essay questions.  However, there are times I want to give my high school math students some practice where they will have to enter in square roots or other math type and still receive immediate feedback.  Since the short answer/essay questions require the teacher to grade the answers, the students don't get immediate feedback, and the teachers don't always have the time to do this when over 100 students want to use take the practice multiple times.

Yes. This very same request came up in my district. Students should have access to the math keyboard/equation editor in every question type. Teachers are very creative in using the assessment question types, so it makes no sense to discriminate as to which question types are suitable for math or science. For instance, this is how one of our teacher wanted to use the fill in the blank text question type. "Students would see an image of a shape with missing values. They will need to enter square roots (the actual square root nomenclature, not the numerical conversion)." In order to do that, they need the math keyboard/equation editor to appear in their rich text tool bar.

Presently, there is a problem with using tables with fill in the blank questions. "Generating tables that exceed the width of the frame cannot be viewed when grading student submissions. Unfortunately at this time, there is not a way to adjust the table once it's been created. We’ve escalated this issue to our Engineering team, with a priority of Moderate Impact. This means that we understand tables within assessments are not working fully as intended, but prioritization of this issue is weighted against more urgent issues and other features we are developing."

A solution to this problem would be to allow creators to upload table images to fill in the blank questions and insert responses over the image. Currently, only the label image question type affords this functionality.

Absolutely can  be done. A program we are piloting uses the same assessment creator and it does it!!!!! They don't care about math teachers here. Who has time to grade all of those things by hand?
