Student Completion with Due Dates

Follow

Since the last post I found on this was from way back in 2013 (I'm sure there are more) I'll post it again as it is a bit ridiculous that this still hasn't been addressed in some way as an option. Make an option for student completion and due dates, not having that is simply useless to many people and has rendered none of the teachers in my school able to use it. I used it for a couple of weeks, but having due dates is simply more important. As a side note it also throws the gradebook out of whack.

I'm a little unsure what you mean - I've had no trouble setting due dates, and you can set assignments to lock at a certain time.

I am not talking about just using due dates, I am talking about using due dates and the student completion option at the same time. It prevents you from using due dates when you use it.

Edit: Updated post with other user's post.

Ah yea, I haven't messed with student completion.

If schoology managed to finish half the features they started, it would be a halfway decent platform.

You can edit those from the gradebook using the bulk edit tool. I do it all the time. In the screenshot below you will see that each assessment has a due date plus 3 other dates (linked sections).

Schoology/PS's official position on this is that this is "not the intended functionality" but I have gotten it pushed into research. For some students, "self-paced becomes no pace."

Yea, schoology has potential - it's just always half baked. Clearly this is possible - they just can't be bothered to implement or respond to teacher requests in anything like a timely manner.

(Hi comment team! I promise, if y'all fix a substantial number of the unfinished/half-baked/buggy features I'll stop leaving comments like this :)  In the mean time, please, do report me to my district again :)
