Assignments in the Elementary Experience - Students (Enterprise)

The Elementary Experience provides a new workflow for submitting your work to assignments. Once you've made a submission, your teacher can grade the assignment, provide feedback, and upload a file back to you.

When you open an assignment, the following submit options are available:

  • Photo
  • Record Video
  • Record Audio
  • Upload
  • Type

Submit an Assignment

Students can submit a photo, audio/video recording, file, or text to an assignment.

To submit an assignment, open the assignment and click Start to access the full list of submit options.

Next, click one of these options:

Photo

  1. Click Take Photo on the next page.
    If needed, click See More to see the full description of the assignment.
  2. When using the camera for the first time, the browser will display a prompt to allow the camera. Click Allow to continue using the camera. Additionally, be sure your camera is not being used in any other applications.
  3. Take a photo on your device and click I’m Done! to submit.
  4. A celebratory animation will display to confirm the photo has been submitted.

Record Video

  1. Click Start on the next page.
    If needed, click See More to see the full description of the assignment.
  2. When using the camera and microphone for the first time, the browser will display a prompt to allow the camera and microphone. Click Allow to continue using the camera. Additionally, be sure your camera is not being used in any other applications.
  3. Record your video and click Stop when complete.
  4. Use the Play button to preview your video.
  5. Click I'm Done! when you’re ready to submit.
  6. A celebratory animation will display to confirm the recording has been submitted.

Record Audio

  1. Click Start on the next page.
    If needed, click See More to see the full description of the assignment.
  2. When using the microphone for the first time, the browser will display a prompt to allow the microphone. Click Allow to continue with the recording.
  3. Record your audio and click Stop when complete.
  4. Use the Play button to preview your video.
  5. Click I'm Done! when you’re ready to submit.
  6. A celebratory animation will display to confirm the recording has been submitted.

There is not an option to retake photos/recordings at this time. This functionality will be available as soon as possible.

Upload

  1. Click Choose File on the next page.
    If needed, click See More to see the full description of the assignment.
  2. Select a file from your device to attach to the assignment. If you wish to remove the file and select another file, click the trash icon next to the file title and upload another file.

    • You may only upload one file to your submission.
    • There is a file size limit of 512 MB.
    • Schoology supports the following file types: CSV, DOC, DOCX, DXF, EPS, GIF, HTM, HTML, JPEG, JPG, MP3, MP4, MOV, ODP, ODS, ODT, PDF, PNG, PPT, PPTX, PSD, RTF, SXW, TIFF, TXT, WAV, WMV, WPD, WPS, XLS, XLSB, XLSX, and XML. The Doc Viewer in assignments does not convert Apple Pages, Numbers, or Keynote files, but your teacher may download these submissions onto a computer.
  3. Click I’m Done! when you’re ready to submit.
  4. A celebratory animation will display to confirm the file has been submitted.

Type

  1. Enter your text on the next page.
    If needed, click See More to see the full description of the assignment.
    There is no rich text editor (RTE) available in this view.
  2. Click I’m Done! when you’re ready to submit.
  3. A celebratory animation will display to confirm your submission has been sent.

View Submissions

Access your submission and grade from the My Work tab in the assignment.

Access any comments your teacher has posted from the Submission Activity option.

Resubmit an Assignment

If you need to make another submission, click Assignment from the assignment page and repeat the steps above to submit again.
